After hearing about my success with my 1.33GHz Tbrid, my friend decided to snag a 1.33Ghz cpu to build his first computer......well, he ended up chipping the lower-left corner of the cpu a bit and now the machine won't boot.....

I told him to contact the company he bought it from ( which he did ) and they told him that he was out of luck and had voided their warranty. ( Z-Buy )

Needless to say, he's out of luck so far......I was wondering if he could get AMD to RMA the chip? Has anyone tried this before? If so, did they give you a shiny new cpu?

Thanks for the help guys! :)

your pretty much outa luck. Alot of people have chiped or crushed their cores and are stuck with a dead chip.

Alas another good CPU lost to the world, should we have a minute silence for it ?

Wow....I wanna cry for the poor guy......( my coolshims spacer was a sweet investment! )

Has anyone actually tried contacting AMD to see if they'll RMA the chip?

I told them I fried a 1.2 and they gave me an RMA number and are sending me another one as we speak. Teresa in the RMA department was really nice. Just tell them what happend and see what happens. Can't hurt.

Has ANYONE else RMA'd their cpu directly through AMD....or at least tried? I am gaining a bit of hope here.....

If they don't take it see if they will send you free AMD stickers! I heard if you call and ask they will take it about 50% of the time. especially if you are using an approved hsf!
