hey, im new to the whole overclocking scene, but i am seriously inquisitive.
im looking to overclock the FSB on my machine. im running a 1GHz Athlon T-Bird (200MHz) and i am looking to bump it up to 133MHz (266MHz) without greatly chaning the overall operating speed of the processor. 8x133 = 1064MHz
has anyone else tried this? and if so could youplease tell me a little bit about how you got it to work?

To run at 133 you need a KT133A motherboard. If you have a KT133 you will probably not be able to do that.
So what motherboard do u have?

right now im on a POS generic Socket A board made by shuttle.
i'll have an Abit KT7A by sunday. What im really worried about is the extra heat from the faster FSB. I figure an Alpha PEP66T with a vertical shroud mod and a delta black label will be able to dissipate the heat well enough though. do i want to up the core to 1.85v in order to keep the machine stable? or will i be stable @ my present voltage of 1.78v ??
sorry for all the questions...i wanna make sure i do this right the first time and not blow up my machine =P
If your memory will go that high, you should be able to run a 1.0G/200 at 10x133 on a KT7A with 1.75 volts on the core, rather effortlessly. Yes, more speed means a higher wattage and resulting temperature to deal with and the higher the temp, the harder it will be to get a stable OC at a given speed. Depending upon the room and system temp in your new setup, the PEP66T should be able to handle the job.

thanks man, im not looking into going to 1.33 GHz yet though.
i was thinking more along the lines of 8x133 to keep the processor closer to its factory rated speed and only speed up the FSB. but n e ways, ill be on my way to savage OCs soon enough =)
if anyone else has anything else i should be aware of please post, i really dont want to fry my Athlon =P

Use a good thermal compound such as Arctic Silver.

Increase voltage only as much as u have to, as it will create much more heat, than the FSB overclock itself..
Burning in can help to lower voltages
