I am at school right now so i can't download the file to check, but are there directions on how to update the firmware on my plextor drive the the firmware update file? If now anyone know how to do this?

generally its an executable, just run it and it will update the firmware, and then you rebootyour comp and all is good. make sure to back it up though. there is a utility that allows you to do that on their site I beleive.

Yeah, I just did my firmware on both my 48X burners.

Just make sure you get the RIGHT firmware.

The program you download will run in windows, check your
current firmware, and flash to the new firmware.

DON"T FORGET TO REBOOT immediatly after flashing.
Otherwise you could labotomize your drive!

Generally firmware just tells the drive how to better handle
different grades and brands of media. The latest I installed
on my 48X allowed it to handle the typical "cheap" media
you can pick up anywhere. Before the flash I was lucky to get
24X without making a coaster. After the flash, I can use the same
cheap media, and hit 48X without a problem...even on 40X media!
