i was looking over the amd.com website at the optrons and found this.. i didn't know they had a OMG wopping 1MB! L2 cache... that insane!

Yup The Opteron is a pretty sweet chip.

Later this month, the desktop versions will have 1 MB cache as well.

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton now costs $450
The Athlon 64 will cost more than that.

Its been known for a while... and wasn't there plans for more L2 cache in the future?

The real question all the boys and girls are waiting for is how well will it OC? The early peeks seem to be pretty encouraging as far as its performance go. Its easy to get hyped up on that stuff so I will reserve judgement until they hit the market but they seem like they are going to be pretty powerful procs, I just am anxious to see how they fair at higher clock speeds (assuming they have some headroom for a good OC ofc which is what pretty much every AMD fan has been hoping for).
