View Full Version : swiftech mcw-50T

im wondering, does it come with all the things I need?
I'm relatively new to TEC cooling, but not to water
i found a mean well with 12.5 AMPS on the 12V line, and it seems that the swiftech eats about 7V
so, what else will I need to buy to get this Pelt setup to work
silicon spray: not needed, but added safety...spray on front and back of card (cover pin holes first). this helps so if water does get on the card, damage *shouldnt* be done
de-electric grease: spread on the gpu (but not the core), all around the gpu as wide as the tec unit is at least...and a bit more.
gasket around the tec (not sure if its needed for the swift's, but is for the maze's)
that foamy stuff: ont he back of the card with the grease
(i think the above is right. im not a tec wizz kid, just read up whilst thinking about doing one on my graphics card :))

If you have a decent psu, you can probably run the TEC directly from one of the molex connectors and avoid buying a dedicated unit. Those are my plans anyway since I have a 550W psu.
i think the swift comes wiht a gasket ? O_O
but thanks,
what do you mean by covering the pin holes with the spray? where are the pins?
i think ineed to do a little bit more research :)
yah i dont think you need a seperate powersupply for a measely 80w tec :)
so long as you already have a powerful psu 500w ++
im getting this vga block and it will be part of my first watercooling setup
along with a procore radiator, tygon tubing and a hydor l20 pump becuase of its small size.
oh and a bay reserviour. hope it comes out well :)

exactly like mine, but i heard that the tec will add too much heat into the system :( and lower OC
yah, im only cooling my vga though, gonna cool the processor with a prommy

I was gonna put my 80w gpu pelt and 226w cpu pelt on 1 loop with a heatercore with dual 120's and an eheim 1250, but now i want to get a big heater core, one that can fit 2 120's, and a nice pump, maybe one of those raimbow pumps(can't remember the name) for my cpu alone.
I am gonna test them both on the same circuit, and see how that does first.

yeah it comes with everything you will need, except grease, but you can run the tec from your psu, I bet you won't see a difference if you have a decent psu, which you should have if you are planning on overclocking anyway:o

I have a pcp&c with tweaked 3.3/5/12v lines, and I just got an antec tp 550w that i am gonna mod...can't wait to get my system running.
yah i jut got a 550w antec truecontrol with sleaving and removable cables, cant wait to install her, no more annoying cable hiding techniques :)

I have heard realy bad things about the antec tc around these forums, but hopefully it will be good for you. Good luck.

tc is true control. I have heard only amazing things about all the other antec psu's, I just bought myself a 550wtp. I have just heard alot of complaints about the true control, someone was sending one back the other day. I think they were pretty picky complaints so I am sure it is a killer psu.
