Hey Witty
Could you set the fsb jumper to 100 and try again.
fsb was left at 100
try 133 no go, back to 100 nope...
tested outside the case. only cpu, memory, and video card.
i tried my other video card as well, no luck
i then proceed with clearing CMOS :D
now when i turn on the power supply, the motherboard then automatically on without pushing the power button (still no post though.. same error.)
i will go to fry's tomorrow and get a stick of registered ram (hopefully it's the ram issue.)
i'm getting used to with the siren sound that the mb is making though..... :p

whats the beep code?
have you checked the memorry and chip in another pc to eliminate them?
is the heat sink seated right?( i had an eyelash under myn DHO!)
i'm not quite remember the beep code i think it was something like
long beep every two seconds or so. after a while then i hear siren.
the memory should be good because i was using that same stick on my other box.
have not test the cpu with other mb. (will do it today.)
will try registered ram today and see if it fix the problem.
*edit* just check fry's. they have 512 registered ecc pc2100 from corsair and mushkin. which one should i get?
thank you.

iv only ever used crucial (serriusly ever since my old pII) but i would expect that stick of crucial to work in the slot closest to cpu1 (thats slot 1). if it does not then there may be a fault (memory or board or possibly cpu).
test the memory in another pc and test that it is seating correctly and that it has no dust in the slots.
also check the boad for dammage. missing components chips and scraches.
ether of those manufatures should work and reg is an investment if you want to use more than 2 slots. Most people recomend samsung reg 2700 for these as it alows memmory to run up to 150 fsb with out becoming a ishue.
im going to look for some info on beep codes as ive forgoten them
edit : http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm#05
edit2: (after this im out of ideas.) the P4 aux conecter is pluged in isnt it?
if the memory and cpus test ok inanother pc then it may be the board. time for a rma
thank you for your reply.
i did try all of the different slots.
i am going to test the cpu in a different board to make sure that is't not the cpu.
the memory (crucial stick.) is definitely working ok in my other setup.
yeah... i should've followed the guide and go with samsung reg.
my head hurts :D

it might also be a powersupply issue.

Do you have the latest bios? ... it should be version 1.82.
I think they fixed some memory incompatability problems with one of the bios releases.

Doesn't sound like a memory problem, to me. Even if it were a memory incompatibility, it should ALWAYS boot at 100 FSB.
Doesn't sound like PSU, either. Antec 480 is enough.
Do you have the Aux connector plugged in, like aftermath asked?
Are you sure the heatsink was mounted properly?
Are you sure the CPU is good?
Are you using a single CPU in the Primary CPU socket?
Have you tried disconnecting the power LED, HD LED, and reset headers? Sometimes, if those are hooked up wrong, it can interfere with POST.
Have you tried a different video card? (preferable a PCI, just to narrow things, down.)
thank you guys :)

how do you reset header? i did clear CMOS though. Have you tried a different video card? (preferable a PCI, just to narrow things, down.) tried with a different agp card. i don't have any pci.
going to test the cpu, brb ;)

I was referring to removing the little header things from the motherboard. You know, the power LED header, the Hard Drive LED header, and the Reset Switch header.

tested both cpu's, and they're good. i'm using one of them as i type now :p
read a lot of posts with similar problem. didn't think that i'll run into one myself
any more suggestions?
btw. sk-7 & panaflo is awsome.. extremely quiet and good temp too :D

Only suggestion I have left is to call your reseller or MSI for an RMA. It sounds like a dead board.
i guess so. will call accupc first thing on monday. too bad... i wish i have a dual to play with now (b4 i handover to my bro.)
hopefully the rma process isn't too painful. i never rma any of my stuff before.
thank you everyone for all of your suggestions :)
got a new board today from accupc. after tested the board with unmod cpu. IT POST!!! finally... did the L5 mod, and it works the first try. this board has 1.8b2 bios though. any idea?

Great news witty! - i guess you got a dud board first time round.
Are you planning on getting a second cpu?
currently running 2x1700+, and have not try to overclock them yet. these are A cores, so probably won't get very far. i am going to order a couple of 2500+ sometimes next week. hmm... will anyone be intereseted in a pair of xp->mp 1700?

Yeah, those A's aren't very good overclockers. I just modded a pair for a friend and they weren't particularly great to overclock. You can probably reach XP2100-XP2200 speeds with them.

vcore 1.625 (default 1.5)
temp underload (2 instances of prime95.)
motherboard 38
cpu1 53
cpu2 57
sk-7 and panaflo
running out side the case..
