Ok, heres the deal. I got me a 1 ghz 266 FSB AXIA week 9 with a 9 starting the 3rd line.

When i was first overclocking it, i booted up at (10x133) 1333 mhz no problem. Ran fine for about 2 days, then it locked up once. Assuming this was due to intense multitasking (running a 3d game and many browsers and chat programs at once I restarted.

When i restart, it says "windows protection error, please restart your computer" so i did it, and i get the same error again. I turn the CPU down to 1 ghz, and it boots fine, i restart and put the CPU back to 1333 mhz. IT BOOTS FINE. well that is interesting I think to myself.

So then about a day later, it locks up again, due to extreme room temperature I assume (since room temp and case temp were getting to mid 90's F!) Well I restarted then and i got same windows protection error. Turned it down to 1 ghz and it boots fine again.

In the morning I turn it back to 1333, and I get same windows protection error. This time though, system temp is only about 80 F (26C).

It will no longer get into windows at 1333 anymore, and case temp is 26C. at 1333 mhz, CPU idle temp is 31C and FULL load is 53C.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM? OR KNOW A FIX FOR IT? LET ME KNOW THANKS!

Aaron

do you have a sound blaster live card? I had the same problem and it would happen evry now and then and it was the live card sharing to manny IRQs could be the same thing idono you might check out your IRQs.

Yes I do have a sound blaster Live Card, it shares IRQ 12 with my network card. hmm Thank you very much for that input! Next time it happens I will switch its IRQ. Umm how would I go about making it use a specific IRQ? I've done it before and could figure it out, but you if you already know how, that could save me some time :)

The way got to work is to change PCI slots. I have my ATA 100 controller card on slot 2, the S.B. live on slot 4 ,and my LAN card on slot 5. I don't know how to manually give it an IRQ thoe. I think there is a setting in the bios but every time you have to clear the CMOS it will be reset. So moving you cards around might be a permanent solution.

use pci slots 3-5-6 sound blaster in 5 unless your using raid then use 2-3-5 ;D

i would also suggest that you remove your north bridge hs and replace the thermal pad with some ac II
