Does anyone knnow how and what i should be careful of when i OC ? I have only PC100 Mem. and a TNT2M64 Graphiccard. Dont want to burn them out.. Somebody told me i could change the FSB to 107 and the Multip. to 8 and Vcore 1.75?!? The board has the KT133A chip. Please help me out!!! Thanks

There is no fixed certainty as to what speed you can hit.. you may even go faster than that, however its very likely that your memory will hold you back a little.. Overclocking sucessfully takes preperation, planning and a little luck.
You should however read the information of the front of this site.. the 'Beginner Guides' to give you a overall view of the task ahead. Also letting people on this board know what hsf (heat sink fan you have? ) what tempratures your CPU and system currently operate at and what additional cooling you have such as case fans.. Also is the CPU unlocked ?
Will allow the people to give you greater information and help you more
Welcome to the forum :)
DEfinitely get used to the bios settings. I don't have the same motherboard you do, but you need to download a program called MBM5 that monitors temps. Research is your best friend, go to google and do some searches for your motherboard and overclocking. There's a newbies page here somewhere ( I don't remember where, but there's definitely one). Do a search in the cpu database off the front page and see what the results are. The 600 is one heckuva overclocker, my 650 hits 1080mhz no problem, your 600 should reach at least 1ghz. Good luck and stick around. THis is a majorly addicting hobby.
You might also try the news group at;
alt.periphs.mainboard.msi-microstar
where you will also find a lot of info and get help with probs specific to your board and you are going to experience plenty I warn you in advance this mobo is stable but a bit of a pig to oc.

As I previously stated there is no golden rule for overclocking however for a given speed a higher FSB is more desirable for example (7.5 x 133) will be faster than (10x100) although both hit 1 Ghz, it is impossible to say as to what speed FSB you can run as this depends greatly on the other components in your system, I for example run a FSB of 140, to be able to do this I required memory that is stable enough and my cards must be able to cope with the increased speed across the mobo.. this can only be discovered by yourself, take everything slowly and make small adjustments, taking note as to what settings you have completed.. and hopefully you will get a good performance boost.
I wouldnt however expect a massive FSB as your memory will hold you back being PC 100 (might be time to upgrade it, if you seriously want to overclock).. The settings suggested to you (107 x 8 ) sound like a reasonable place to start but I would suggest starting at 100 FSB and increase step by step than just guessing a FSB and see if your system is stable before adjusting again (remember keep an eye on temps)
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask and someone will help im sure

Thanks alot UnseenMenance for your wise advice. I will try to increase the FSB instead of the Multip. But what should i be looking for when using a TNT2 Graphikcard? Are these cards able to handle a FSB of 133 or more?? And what about my Adaptec SCSI Card?? 2940! Sorry that i have to ask so many questions but i dont want to destroy any cards!! Oh i got 128 MB PC133 Infineon!! And do i have to be careful about the Harddrive?? It can only run at 66 although the board supports 100er!? Thanks in advance!!

I am currently running my Duron 600 at 900... on an Abit KT7 using a black ThermoEngine with delta fan on it. Used to have a FOP38, but found that the TE keeps it slightly cooler. Temps are 29 C idle, high 30's C when under load with ambient temp of around 21C. case temp usually same as ambient. CPU voltage set to 1.75.
