I have a ASUS A7V133 with a 1.2 AXIA.
I am using a Global Win FOP32 HSF with some Radio shack thermal grease.
My CPU is clocked to 1.33 (10x133).
What should I get the keep the load Temps down to 40-45c. Right now I am getting 45-55C load temps.
I have a good case and extra fans already.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

1.5 hmmm .. most of the guys reaching these levels are using extreme cooling ...pelt+water..I suggests that you do a reasonable amount of research before attempting this ;D
I suggest using the swiftech 462 which im using, and as long as my computer room stays cool I can run in the 1450 range
actually with an AXIA a lot of people make 1.5ghz with just air cooling, though most only reach 1.4ghz with mid range air coolers, I recomend either a thermo engine with either a 27cfm 60mm ys-tech fan or 60mm delta if you can tolerate the noise, or a Global Win wbk 32 and change the 60 mm fan for an 80mm 47cfm ys-tech, the wbk is 62mm by 80mm so it will only be overhanging on either one or two sides depening on how you mount it by 18mm which will still perform as well as a delta at low volume

I'm running mushkin rev3 memory and a swiftech 462 ac II and can only run stable at 1.45 with my 1gig hitting 1.46 (3-1.2 and 1 1.0 all axias) i dont believe that (most people ) are running that high i should hope that you are not falling victim to the hype ??
Just back from the local show, picked up an AXIA 1.2 266. Out of the box on my AV7133 I'm at 1440MHz, 10.5*137. This is a proven board having had a DURON 600 @ 1130MHz on it. Global Win WBK32 hsf.

im running 10.5x140 @1470 ive had the beast at this level for about 10 hr`s now ..running rc5 as my load test cpu 39C, room temp17C, system temp24C, if the system will run this high for 48hrs ill put it in to my sig if not...............................
kat I didn't say most people reach 1.5ghz with air cooling a said a lot do, I guess I really meant some people do, you are right that the avverage of a 1ghz AXIA or AVIA is about 1.45ghz but some people do get lucky, the 1.33ghz AXIA seem to reach 1.5ghz with air cooling a lot more often than the 1ghz AXIA does though

my mistake what you did say was "a lot" ..what I was hoping to avoid was giving the wrong impression to the new guys as to the potential of a certain chip ...Geobronc was asking about 1.2 tbirds "most 1.2 owners will reach a speed of 1.4 to 1.43 and for some unknown reason 1gig axias will in some cases hit1.45 to 1.5
most or all of the guys going over 1.5 are using extreme cooling which I am not
I find the thought of water or condensation in my pc unacceptable
sorry if i started somthing ;D

What do you think of the speeds posted on the OC database? Some people getting to 1.8 GHz +. I just started with a new 1.33 AXIA. I would like to get 25% more out of it. Waiting for MC 462 and cooling goodies. CUrrently have bad case and cooler (Cooler Master EP5-6I11). Running 25C ambient, case inside 37C, Northbridge 32C, CPU 50-55C with load.
I would like people to put some benchmark figures on to get an idea of overall performance not just HZZZZ. I get the following with Sandra (SiSoft) on my "virgin" system.
CPU 3741 and 1843
MM 8347 and 7276
Mem 649 and 820
It took me some time to get there with drivers and BIOS settings. I use a FIC AD11 MB.

i can run my system at 1.5 but only for a short time just long enough to get a screen shot,, ;) ;) ;)
no problem kat I kinda didn't think about my wording when I wrote it, I have seen a database of tbird overclocks and there are few 1.2ghz AXIA entrys so an average of 1.4ghz compared with the 1ghz AXIA results which get an average of 1.45ghz isn't fair, the 1.33ghz AXIA's do seem to score higher as well with a 'lot' of them reaching 1.5ghz
Well just for the info, I have my 1gig AXIA running 1.5gig (10.5X143)! Got it up last night and ran folding@home all night without a glitch with a max temp at 44C. I am using water cooling, but just goes to show how good the AXIA's are. But, Just as an added note, I could only get it to run stable at 1430-1450mhz when I first got it and after having it run a month with folding at home I tried again and went with no problem. I think when I get home I'm gonna go for more. By the way the Vcore is only 1.85.

Keep in mind it seems the first number/letter of the line after the AXIA code is important too, letters <most are Y> are better than numbers for some reason, my 1ghz 266 FSB AXIA chip with Y on the second line runs 1470 with a global win FOP38 all day long, its temp has crested as high as 53C, oddly enough it runs fine regardless of temp, but even at 48C it wont hit any significantly higher speeds...now that its had some burn in time it may be time to reseat it and try for more

I just ordered a GlobalWin WBK38 and some Arctic Silver II from heatsinkfactory for my 1.2 AXIA.
I think this will help me a lot!
Any recommendations in reaching stable speeds of 1400mhz with a ASUS A7V133a and Genaric PC133 256k SRAM?
I was successful at 1.33, but havent tryed it further until I get my new HSF and thermal grease in a few days.
Any recommendations on what Multiplyer and FBS combo to try?

U can hit 1500 with watercooling, get a big radiator (the ones with 2 fans on them). DONT put any peltier unless u get a 200 Watt and want to boil eggs in your watertank. Peltiers dont work well on "big" TB's coz the heat production is so great. theres even an article on that on this very site.
gdluck!

You should be able to hit 1.5 w/ a ThermoEngine + YS Tech or Delta fan.
My AXIA is running 1.45 gig @ 1.75v using stock thermoengine. ~52C under load.
No need to go to 1.5 as I don't want temps to go any higher and YS Tech is too loud for my tastes.
Running rock solid BTW for a week now
yes I agree with Aftershock
you should be able to hit 1.5 with "the " ThermoEngine .....................
but only if you live in the antarctic and your box is out side next to a penguin ;D
Hey KAT, I've been at 1470 for about 32 hours now, going strong!
1.2-266 @ 1470, A7V133, WBK38, 53C load

your bumping the ceiling with those temps ...you just might have "one " of those chips ;D
ASUS boards are known for the inaccurate readings from ASUS Probe, reported to be as much as 10C higher than actual. I have a couple of them, in fact I had a DURON 600 @ 1130 on an A7V133 with a temp reading in the low to mid 50's with a lapped WBK38, I took it off and installed it on an FIC AD11 with a new WBK38, and now get readings in the 47 to 48C range at the same speeds. FSB and multiplier being the same.
BTW, I just got the AD11. I got impatient for a DDR board with overclocking possibilities, this board is one of the few with multipliers, and I wanted the AMD 761 chipset. I've had good results with FIC in the past. I thought I'd give it a try. So far so good. I have a DURON 600 on it @ 1130 with 128MBs PC2100. Not the blazer that you might expect, but I've got some tweaking to do yet. Without getting too involved testing at this point, it seems to compare at least favorably with the A7V133. All in all not a bad comparison, the AD11 costs about twenty bucks more but has on board sound, and the cost of DDR memory is close to that of PC133. On the downside, I haven't found support for ATA100, whereas the A7V133 has that as well as the option for RAID.
