I just bought a Dell Dimension 4600 3.0ghz. It has the 865PE chipset motherboard. The Bios doesn't appear to let me over clock the computer. I just flash updated the bios to the most current version. Has anybody had experience with this? Does anybody know what I can do?

Thanks,
B

As far as i know, Dell wont allow you to overclock at all.

Dell has good reliable computers but they are not made for standard upgrades. They even use special power supplies and non-standard PS connectors so you have a hard time just upgrading the PS.

Try finding some software to overclock that chipset. I don't know exactly where to get the software but i know it exists and its for the 865springdale and 875canterwood. Said it should work on those chipsets. Other than that toss the board in the dell and get an Abit Max seriesII or III and forget any of the dell support.

The Dell powersupply is to weak to allow much overclocking and the case cooling is terrible. My advice don't even try.

dont even try, thats not something an overclocker should say, i just ordered a dell 2.4 pentium and come hell or high water it is going to get overclocked. I will post results when I get my hands on it.
