Installing new external hardware modem....

Before I shut off my PC to install (or plug in rather) my new external modem should I uninstall the drivers for my current PCI modem? And Should I take out the PCI modem when I'm connecting the new one?

Nah, you can leave the old one in there if you'd like, software and all.
The only time I've seen windoze have a problem with two modems was when I had two USB ones, and it couldn't tell the two of them apart (USB glitch).
