Got a new lappy the other day, well It finally came. Fresh off the production line :D

Be sure to format it.
That thing can't be light is the only thought in my mind. None the less the score is quite impressive.

It came with no OS installed ;) This is off a fresh install of XP pro. Im sure I can get the score to 3k if I turned off some of the non essentials.

Weighs in at 9.5lbs with 2 batteries.
@ full load (playing a game). I get 2 hours of battery time (with both batteries.
Watching a movie I get 2.25 hours
Doing light stuff like browsing the forums or email I get about 3 hours.
Not impressive battery power by any means but... *points at the 3dmark score again* :D

actually, i wouldnt feel too bad, i have a 2.4ghz athlon, and my 8500 played vice city just fine, and i dislike first person shooters so halo/doom3/halflife2 = not for me. i tried to rationalize the 9800np, but i just cant, it would only be the "its better and bigger and faster" impulse buy. none the less, that is a very impressive laptop (err, i mean portable desktop, with that battery life:D)

Eh.. The only time im not plugged in is when im at starbucks or at work.

Its a 60gb 5400rpm.
Hey I need *some* battery life in this thing. a 7200rpm would cut it down even farther :(

I've been thinking about a lappy, doesn't have to be light but it needs to be fairly powerful with good battery life. Good battery life does NOT mean ghettorigging a car battery to the DC in port.... Though I have been known to do that to certain electronics.... :)
That one you've got there looks fairly nice, I may look at the pricing/options...

My laptop gets 400 and something in 3dmark 2001 se. It could barely load those pictures you posted without crashing. I've been wanting to buy a new one for some time but I can't bring myself to dish out the money. I wonder what it's like playing BF1942 on the couch.

At the other end of the spectrum, my lappy is a P150mhz, armed with a whole 32megs of ram, and a 1.2gig 3,600rpm hard drive...
But it lets me browse the forums, and it will run mIRC, next to winamp (over the network lol) so it's all good :)

Done off a fully charged set of batteries. I turned off my beautiful stylexp theme and all the background things :p

Only used up 10% of the batteries. I ran the benchmark again on ac power and got the exact same score as before (actually 1 whopping point higher) even with all the stuff turned off :( Bottleneck is the gpu, not the cpu.

3dmark takes about... 7-10 mintues.

Sager released a bios update for my lappy that fixed a bunch of bugs in it (nothing major) and it upped the core and mem speeds on the video gpu a bit, No idea why they shipped the laptops with the gpu slightly underclocked :confused:

I took the laptop to a lan party this weekend and boy was it nice not having a ton of **** to lug around. All I had was my laptop, bag of misc stuff, and my chair.
Brought it all in on just 2 trips to the car :D I have no pratical use for the laptop either, except for traveling light to lan parties, wardriving, and doing stuff at work on my breaks (mainly playing rtcw:et on it :p).
Super Nintendo can vouch for the sexiness of the laptop, he saw it this weekend :p

No, personally I don't thinks theres anything wrong with owing one. I even thought of getting one myself, but you guys live in America not in Iraq or Chechnia or Serbia. I don't see any justifyable reason to have a gun in your bedroom above your pillow. Why would you reaaly want to have one ?

It's for target shooting. I didn't purposefully place it above my bed, when I put it there that was BEHIND my computer desk. The furniture has since been rearranged, and that's where my bed ended up. I really don't like it there as I always hit my head on it... :p
I still can't seem to make 3DMark03 work properly.... so no score yet
