Let me tell you a little story for people that dont wear eye protection.

I was using my dremal with a wire brush bit and not wearing glasses DOH! I had one of those little Wires fly off the dremal and imbed its self into my eyelid. Every time i blinked or moved my eye there was an unbelieveable pain. So after stumbling around my house trying to find my mom and dad to help. I was laying on the floor shaking so badly due to the pain that my dad had to hold me down so my mom could pull the wire out. So all in all USE EYE PEOTECTION!!!

I was one of thosee people that thought "Ha i dont need that nothing is going to happen." but i was wrong...

so i thought i would share my story with you guys so the same does not happen to you. (At least it was not a cutting disk).

great for the modding injuries section in alternative modding.

Is your sight damaged? That sounds REALLY bad for your eye.

it is, and i always use eye protection, as a sliver of metal got into a friends eye, and he just rinsed and hoped for the best, until it rusted, making it much harder to dig out, ill take the inconvinience of saftey glasses

My friend was grinding something and then I heard a loud snap because his grinding wheel cracked and hit the lens of his goggle and cracked it. That was a pretty hard impact, considering that these lenses are made the same plastic used for bulletproof windows.

Someone else told me to wear not only goggles but also a face shield because if a big chunk flew off it could dislodge the goggles.

One time, on a medical call-in show, a man asked the doctor about his wife, who felt some discomfort ever since injuring her eye a few hours earlier. He said that she wasn't in great pain, but the doctor told him to take his wife to the doctor right away, and when the caller said he'd do it the first thing in the morning, the doctor insisted on her going immediately and explained that her type of injury sometimes resulted in permanent blindness to some degree if not treated within a few hours.

hrm.......uncomfortable, hot, foggy safety goggles, or permenant blindness?

When all is considered, I don't think that safety goggles are much of an inconvienence...heh. In fact, I made it a point to buy some when I started modding my case a while ago.....I wear glasses, so I already have a good bit of protection, but they are definately not a replacement for safety goggles.

Sometimes when I'm working on a big project I use my paintball facemask. Gives real good full facial protection. ;)
