My computer wont post anymore. I tried overclocking my athlonxp 1700+ the other day , and i think i jacked up the fsb too high, now my comp wont post anymore and its making a beeping noise every five secs, i think i fried my cpu. I took my cpu out and the beeping stoped and of course no post, i have a shuttle ak31 rev2.
also, i resetted cmos and it still doesnt post, i believe the problem is the cpu and ill probably have to get an new one, oh, im using a ozc gladiator too cool it, any suggestions? thanks

I've never heard of anyone damaging the cpu with the fsb, unless they raised the voltage too much. You should post all the details about your system as well. Try unplugging the computer, turning the psu switch to off, taking out the cmos battery, and use the jumper if you have one. Leave it like that for at least an hour. Seems like your bios isn't really resetting. That happens sometimes.

You pretzel :D (inside joke not a flame)

Open your manual to your motherboard and see how to reset your CMOS. Once you reset that it should post fine, i dont think there are many ways to actually make a system not post by bumping the FSB.

It is possible to hurt your PCI/AGP cards hard drives cd-roms etc if your PCI isnt locked at 33mhz however it would still post.

So reset that CMOS and go from there.
