View Full Version : What kind of GFD do you all recommend?
I have an Asus K7V mobo/ 650 classic slot A/ Asus V6800 video card/ 256MB pc150 Corsair and I'm ready to rev this thing up a little.
Murphy gave me some great links to review what's out there (thanks Murph) and I'm wondering what you all are using.
Which one is the best? The easiest to use? Stuff like that.
Well I JUST ordered one form www.icompz.com I also ordered some artic silver. I haven't got them yet but when I do I'll let ya know how they do. I JUST pulled the plastic case off the cps (slot A). I did notice that my temps seem to be a little higher. (probably do to the fact that I didn't put on any more thermal paste) I should lap the heat sync but it's I think it's going to be hard work cuz of the aliement marks on the HS. ANY one have any luck doing that? So anyway back to what I started with. As soon as I get one I'll let ya know.
Clock on
Rob
I've tried the northwind Rev 3.0 GFD. It works great and has a low profile, you can pick them up on ebay for like $20. If you need a link to an auction I can get you one.

I was looking at the Northwind too Aaron. I might give it a try.
I just put this system together, after working out a few bugs I got it goin, then the hard drive took a dump on me tonight (Western Digital) (brand new) so I had to jump back on my back-up till I can RMA it.
Let me know how it goes Rob- and what kind of GFD did you order?

I have a question
I just bought a t-bird slot A 900mhz cpu and got rid of my 600mhz classic
I want to know if i bought a GFD would my cpu go higher then 1000mhz from 900mhz . I know my motherboard Gigabyte 7IX is only able to get up to 1000x multiplyier and i cant even change the bus speed on the motherboard. However i can download cpufsb and my motherboard is listed so i can change the FSB through software. FSB listing are 120mhz FSB pci 30mhz and 133mhz pci 33mhz. I heard that most slot a motherboards cant even post at 120mhz fsb. I think with the latest RAM i.e pc166 i might be able to achive 120mhz or 133mhz FSB but im not sure , thats why i need a second opinion. I do know that the 7iX was made after the AMD reference board Called "Fester"
any sugestions might help on what could be the best bet to overclock my cpu more then a 1000mhz with a gfd
thanks
