i just got a axia chip at a computer show here in san antonio. its a 1 giger with 266 fsb. i saw that it was locked, so i penciled it just like i did my old duron. but i'm still not able to change the multiplier! i'm using the epox kt133a board, and i can't find any bios settings to solve this problem. i remember seeing this problem with people before in this forum, and was wondering if there is a fix for this situation. pleez say there is, cuz i would cry if there isn't.

Check the pencil job. If it's not done right you won't be able to adjust the multiplier. Might want to use something better than a pencil, like a rear window defoger pen. If the L1 bridges are connected correctly it SHOULD unlock the multiplier.

i checked my pencil job and redid it anyway. i know the pencil works cuz it worked with my duron on the same board. i think there is another issue here. it may be because my cpu is of the 266 fsb flavor or something. all i know is that i wish i didn't spend all my dough on this setup for nothin!
Are u sure u pressed down hard enough with the pencil when you penciled the bridges in? I pressed down harder and that worked for me.

Same prob here. I've done two defogger kit jobs and i cant get it to post with any multiplier other than 7.5 Tried underclocking with 7x and overclocking with 8x nothing posts, have to clear cmos to get back to default.. Im dreading the idea of trying to connect them again, and am starting to think that there's another problem..
See my sig for specs (cpu is unlocked now-i think!!!)

yah i gringe evertime too! especially since its no duron that i'm dealing with anymore. at least with my duron it wouldn't hurt as bad. but that grinding feeling when you do chip the core is unforgetable!
