View Full Version : AMD = ??? WU per hour?
OK, how many WU per hour (or per day) are folks getting out of the current crop of AMD chips?

That might not be current but it's a start i guess

I've got an 2500 and a 2100 both around 2200Mhz doing about 10 each a day. The 2500 is a bit faster but its also main PC so it doesn't have as many free cycles.

getting about 3 hrs per WU @ 1749 Mhz
The last and best AMD rig I had was a 2800 Barton on an Asus A7N8X. It was doing about 12-13 per day while overclocked to 2300MHz. About a month after I got that setup I put together a P4C box and was getting 17-18 per day out of it, so when the opportunity arose I sold the Barton and replaced it with a second P4C rig. I've been thinking about buying an Opteron rig to see how it will do - or better yet build one for a client and let them test it.

How do you know what your output is? I have a 1700 tbred and a 2500+ running seti 24/7 but I don't have a way to keep track of their production.
Most people use a utility such as Seti Spy or to keep track of several computers Seti Queue. Both will tell you how many work units a machine is doing per day.

Seti-Spy has a built-in calculator. You can use it as a rough indicator.
For exsample: a XP-2200@stock with 266 Memory processing an 0,417 WU will give you a time around 3,30 hours (3 hours 17 Min)
when i get the go ahead for building an opteron server im gonna bench seti on it. should be interesting.

Ya, that's kind of where I was going. :-)
I have a few amd 1600 coming out of storage in a couple weeks, but this one P4 2.4 that's currently running just kicks FAST.
I'm trying to decide if its worth upgrading a bunch (6) AMDs or selling them off and getting new P4's. The amd 1800's though look like cheap processing power for $50, .....
I get around 10 a day with my sig rig.
