View Full Version : What vendors would u recommend for a PC?
Instead of building your own, what vendors and websites would you guys recommend to build/buy a pc from the ground up? No biggies like gateway or dell, just ones with cool colorful cases and windows :D
did this make sense at all?
ever heard of http://www.cyberpowersystem.com cyberpowersystem? cool deals and cheap prices...and pretty decent selection...
Falcon Northwest, (http://www.falcon-nw.com/) Alienware (http://www.alienware.com) and Voodoo PC (http://www.voodoopc.com/) would probably be the top choices when it comes to what I think you want. As for CyberPower, I have never heard of them.
I haven't ever heard of CyberPower, but I would agree with Aslan when it comes to the Voodoo PC's and Falcon Northwest PC's...they are the best pre-made computers you can get...
....Unless of course you get the PowerMac G5 :p ;)

unless somethings changed the alienware is the low end of the three, but voodoo pc's are absolutly the best premade pc ever, just dont forget your platinum visa with that 10k limit:D
weird..voodoo systems is one of the slowest websites i've visited out of them three..out of any pc manufacturer that I can think of actually....maybe the java is slowing it down but gets annoying when you're looking to max your life savings..

Voodoo is utterly superb quality and absolute top notch customer support(and their wiring jobs just boggle my mind). If you (or anyone) is interested in a voodoo I suggest you check out there forums. You can get to know some of the staff (including the president of the company). If you can't afford voodoo falconNW is also very good (cheaper but not much).
I wouldn't touch alienware with a 10 foot pole. I have heard too many issues about them and I can't see them improving as they get more mainstream. If you can't treat your customers right when you don't have that many of them how are you going to treat them when you have an army of customers?

Dell is probably the overall best. Before you buy it, be sure to enter into Dell's E-mail Special Buy program. This, with their constant Special Deals, can net you a great deal.
Of course, with any Tower PC, you will get a whole lot better deal if you build it yourself, not to mention the ablity to overclock. The only reason I see to buy from Dell would be their warrenty and their Labtops. Dell and Sony offer the best labtops, with Dell being by far the less costy, especially with their coupons and price reductions.
thx for the advice fellas...voodoo sounds and looks good though it is costly..I'm looking for a system that would have a cool case (i.e. funky colors, windows) not mainstream plain grey ones like dell (although they are good stuff).....

the new dell series that is designed for gaming (Xsomething series) is very impressive for the money, but if you are looking for a computer that is built with loving care go with the falcon, they are awesome machines, and if you are one of the privelegd few who accquires a custom painted job, your computer will be a work of art. I have actually played on a newer falcon with the custom paint, and not only is the internals of the machine immaculate, but I was scared to take the side panel off, it is so pretty. I felt like I was tearing into a mint ferarri or something.

there is the dell, about $2700 with a 17"lcd, ati 9800, and 1gig of ram, raid hd config, and dvd burner and more nice pc for the money, plus the case is a really neat design. If you look around on the site you will be able to take a virtual tour of the case and the layout is really cool.

The main thing though is that same system will cost you about $1500-$1700 if you built it yourself. How much is a warrenty and customer-support worth? $1000-$1200?
Building a computer is quite simple after you get over the fact that you actually got to open your case up.
Dell would have to pay me to use their "Customer support"

I second monarchcomputer.com. I bought from them about two months ago after checking out most of the top ranked retailers at resellerratings. They had the best customizing (parts) options at the best price. I spent only about $150 more than it would have cost me to buy the stuff and build on my own.
The experience wasn't perfect, but they corrected the problems without fuss.

STAY AWAY from Cyberpower!!! They are such cr*p. I ordered from them about 8 months ago and all my stuff arrived damaged. Funny thing is that the box was in perfect condition. Everything in the box was wither cracked or defective. I had to send back all of the stuff and they sent me half the stuff back glued together. I am still stuck with a bad hard drive (found out it was a refurb IBM) and a no name CD-R that doesnoe work and has a broken face plate. I tried to call them for months and all it got me was a higher phone bill for calling long distance.
If u want a good PC and have a little savy under your belt. Build it yourself. order from Newegg and get the extended warranties on anything u can. You will thank yourself later.
