Hello:

I am getting a 1.2 GHz Athlon with an Iwill KK266-R mobo. Any recommendations for a heatsink and fan for this combo?

Thanks in advance
Trey

The answer to this can vary as much as you are willing to spend. I have heard good reports for the GlobalWin CAK-38. It has that loud 60mm Delta 38cfm fan on it though. The Taisol CGK-760092 is also a good HS, but the stock fan does not utilize the cooling capacity. That HS with a better fan works very well. Those are only two of many reasonable heatsinks out there. Read some of the Heatsink reviews on the front page here.

there are LOADS to choose from. as hoot says, the cak38 is shaping up to be great, despite the name ;). the new millennium glaciator is going to be really good as well. joe loved it and it gave great performance in his review. i trust joe's heatsink tests more than most, so i recommend you read up on them on the frontpage.

the only personal experience i have is with the fop32, pal6035 and chrome orb. don't touch the chrome orb with a barge-pole!! and the fop32 is too underpowered. my pal6035 with a delta 38cfm beast is great, but there are better hsfs out there now.

actually, now that i look, there's even an article on the main page in the cooling section called "socket a/370 heatsink recommendations", so go read that!!

good luck! :)
