View Full Version : Free 802.11b internet access at locations arcoss the country -- Sept 25th
I just saw this today:

On Thursday, sept 25th Several locations across the country will have free wifi internet access. It seems that all starbucks (that have the tmobile wifi) are participating in it.
well i'll just drag my antec case down to the nearest coffee shop :D
no seriously thats way cool for laptop users....in the mood for illegitimate web activity :D

i heard about this a mounth ago but didn't know when they were going to do it, very cool though i also heard so parks will hav free access to

Its not just starbucks. Check on the intel site for locations.

I have seen this also. There is a shop in our town that does this....only problem is.....maxium speed is less than 30kbps. There is also ALOT of restriced addresses. I even had a hard time getting some search pages such as google and yahoo to come up. :rolleyes: Good idea though.

You should try reading the link in my first post. This isnt forever, its only for one day. Intel paid all the hotspot companies to offer their services for free for one day to promote the centrino product line.
Im going to head down to seattle to one of the intel events and see if I can pick up some free stuff :cool:
i wonder how it'll work in a park??? Maybe they'll put it in a little box protected form the rain and stuff.. but I"m sure someone would want to steal it

They do make outdoor wifi equipment. Its in a steel box and they bolt it down to somthing so nobody can walk away with it :p

About the illegitimate activity... That is kinda dangerous on there part. I mean, yeah, they'll prolly have to be in the store. But for how long to upload a package somewhere, not long. I dunno... if only I hadnt given it up... hehe no seriously though, it's a cool idea. Maybe I'll buy a laptop for it. Hehe

well on the bright side, I found out that the hotel where my sister works has free wifi 24/7! But then, so does my house... hmmmm
