Purchased a pcpowerandcooling 510W PSU and was wondering if on anyone else has one and could comment on whether:
1. The air that it blows out is pretty warm?
2. Does the PSU case stay warm to the touch, even when the PC is off (but cord is plugged in)?

I have the same PSU. It runs warmer than most I've encountered. The air is always pretty warm regardless of load level. I've never checked case temp in power-off before.
From what I can tell any of the truly large supplies emit a bit of heat. I think the P&PC 510W model is rated for something amazing on the 12V like 34A, so there are obviously very large parts at work in the unit. It will probably experience less of a temperature gain with load than most supplies, but may run a bit warmer as a baseline. They tend to put stiff fans in supplies of this type for this reason, even though they usually soldier on if we fit a low speed fan for noise's sake.
how much that thing set you back?

yeah, i agree with larva...
i have two 500+ watt power supplies (antec tp 550 and fortron 530) and BOTH shoot out warm air all the time when powering my 2.1ghz AMD duallies...
but neither appear to be overloaded at all...as the software voltages don't fluctuate more than 1-1.5% even when switching between load and no load conditions...and actually neither fluctuate at all when read with a voltmeter...
and that pcpower and cooling supply i believe runs about $175-200
a little steep...but is probably the best supply available anywhere

How are you finding the PS to run? I can never decide whether or not to go all the way on certain components. Would you recomend this PS over say an antec 520 or something similar?
i would. considering you would rarely find anyone who could make this supply sweat, with the 5 year warranty, it will power almost and cpu and graphics card.

I would recommend that supply over any other if you had the cash to spend (and thats a big if considering the price)

$200 is correct (or $199.99 if we want to be anal about it!). I upgraded from an Enermax 451 which had such lousy 5v voltage control (dropped to 4.85v with the slightest load) that I had to attribute it to the hard disks and caps which failed in my pc. I thought to myself 'never again' and went all out on the PSU.
PPC specify like 1% on their 5v and 12v rails and something crazy like 3-5% on their -ve rails, whilst most other psu manufacturers only specify only 5% on their 5 and 12v rails. It's also not really a 510W PSU, it is effectively a 600W PSU, since PPC rate their PSU wattage at 40C, the temp it's most likely to be at. Enermax specify their peak wattage at 25C.
Haven't seen the voltages move from 5.08v and 12.10v for the past week, no matter what the PC is doing, and the PSU is running a lot of stuff in there. I suppose that does explain why it runs so warm, and compared to both the Antec 303x I have and the Enermax, the heatsinks on this thing are very big indeed.
I won't pretend this PSU is cheap, but industrial PSU's which are ran in rack mounts cost upwards of £300, so it's not entirely unreasonable to pay $200 for a top notch ATX PSU.
(What is unreasonable is $290 for the 'Deluxe' version of the 510 ATX, all for braided cable, black paint and some extra connectors! But does that thing look sweet...:D)

From info I was able to glean here (http://terasan.okiraku-pc.net/dengen/no41/index.html) and here (http://database.ul.com/cgi-bin/XYV/template/LISEXT/1FRAME/showpage.html?name=QQGQ2.E172499&ccnshorttitle=Power+Supplies,+Information+Technolo gy+Equipment+Including+Electrical+Business+Equipme nt+-+Component&objid=1073788743&cfgid=1073741824&version=versionless&parent_id=1073787374&sequence=1), at least the 450 PC P&C is apparently made from a Win-Tact unit with a fair amount of parts shoehorned into a small box. I don't know if the 510 is also a Win-Tact, but some of the specs on that UL page for Win-Tact showed some seriously powerful PSU's. One of them seemed to be an EPS unit with dual 19a 12v rails (WP606F12).

I won’t worry about the air blowing out being pretty warm. I have 2 pcpowerandcooling psu. One is the 425atx(PFC) and the other is the 475atx(PFC). I’ve had the 475 for about a year now and the 425 for about 7 months. Both of them never showed any signs of stress under any load. When I tested both of them the rails were within 0.5% of the spec, with no fluctuations or drop when put under load.
BTW, The air that it blows out has been pretty warm from day one.

I got this psu (the black deluxe edition, ~$300) a couple months back and compared to my previous PCPC Silencer 400, it puts out significantly warmer air. Like larva said, its "baseline" heat level just seems pretty high.
One thing I will say, I love this psu, but ever since I got it, I don't fold anymore at night... it just heats up my room too much :( And I consider myself a die-hard folder. So it's a trade-off. This is no exaggeration -- I come home from work some days and my room is 90 degrees F.

   Wow thats crazy...
on the 510 how many fans are there? one?

Yeah, just the one fan. It's a pretty high volume Nidec, so it does heat up the room, which is great on these chilly mornings here in the UK, but too warm on hotter days.
And great finds on those links Oklahoma Wolf, that EPS PSU you mentioned has some seriously output. Keeping the PC off at the moment, it's too hot here!

I looked the Nidec fan up a while back and its rated at 37 CFM 30 dBA (this fan was noisey) (the fan was a Nidec D08T-12PG)
Since Im not worried about the PC Power and Cooling breaking I voided the warranty and put in a Sanyo Denki 109R0812S401
42 CFM 34dBA (Still to noisey, yanked it out)
So I eventually found two Sanyo Denkis 109R0812F4011 that I liked, 30CFM at 23dBA and I got two, what I did was do a UV PSU mod with one of These (http://www.svc.com/uvreposumo.html) with a 80mm hole for a second fan, so I made up for the loss of CFM by using two fans that are virtually inaudible.
I dislike Nidec fans but I'm not going to go into it, but I definitly agree the Nidec fans used are loud and these PSU's are hot, but they still are the best.
i have the deluxe model too. The price has dropped a bit now. I don't notice that much heat difference from idle to load either. It puts out more air than my 480w truepower but also the fan is louder too. I don't notice it heating up my room more than my antec though, I think the most heat of any pc comes from the CRT monitor.
