I know there is already a thread similar to this however there is no talk about uber cooling. I just need to find out what to get fast. Please help me out. I am trying to see which will generate better performance for gaming and windows xp. Gaming is really up to the vga but its a radeon 9700pro. Please no "get a mach ii" because i do not have that much

Setup #1:
P4 2.4C @ 3.6~3.9Ghz
Abit IS7-G (IC7G not supported by Vapo 100%)
512M Geil PC3200
VapoChill PE
Radeon 9700Pro

Setup #2
Barton 2500+ (or I can get a Throughbred up to $100) @ ?
NF7-S v2
512M Geil PC3200
Prometeia Mach I
Radeon 9700 Pro

Setup #3 (max I can spend for this is $800 if I can buy it suggest it if you think it will sell for more dont say a word)

The intel setup. You have everything else already, you would just need to get the IS7-G

that is a touch choice

personally I would just save a bit more & get the mach with intel

I am currently saving for prommy as well. I am going to wait 'til I get some more money so I can fill it with r404. You should make it the best possible.

The Intel + Vapo is your best option. An Intel at around 3.5ghz should be more than match for an AMD taken to even 2.8ghz-2.9ghz, about the highest you can expect with a Prommie. You should be able to reach 3.6-3.8 with the Vapo, hoping for more would be too ambitious, but it doesn't matter too much anyways. A Prommie would get you perhaps 100mhz-200mhz at most, and no noticeable performance increase. IMHO the Vapo is the best value.

how much are the vapo and Prom 1 selling for?

I found vapo PE for around $500, Mach 2 at $700, but no Prom 1.

I'd take the Vapo, as it is cheaper and looks nicer.

Yep, the intel setup is the route to go, even though i'm a AMD guy i'll admit the intel setup is the best buy for now.

I would look at a different mobo. Maybe something 6 phase like the Gigabyte i875 mobo with the dps module since you are really cranking on the juice.

I own two IS7's and both are going to get rma'd.

I would get the prometia 1 rather then the vapochill even if you go with intel... (which is not a bad idea)

Just a note ..if you pay the electric bill the Prommy runs about twice as much current for that extra -10*

You need a chip with a higher multiplier to go for extreme CPU speed.

Keeping vapochill. I will be on a Prescott/A64 maybe in a year so no point of changing mobos. Sticking with vapochill. I have seen users achieve 3.8~3.9 with Shuttle, and Abit IS7/IC7 w/ Vapo. Well will never know until I try.
