Okay, on my main rig, I am running Windows 2000...
I have a home network, and would like to give the other machines in the house read-only access to the MP3 folder on my NTFS-formatted hard drive.
The issue is, that when the other machines (Windows 2000 rigs also) try to connect to the folder \\--COMPUTERNAME--\mp3\ they get asked to supply a password to connect to IPC$, and it seems like only the administrator password on the 'server' rig (my rig) will allow a connection, and thereafter, the user has full read/write access to the folder.
Um, no... don't want it that way
Anyway, I do not want to upgrade to a different OS, I would just like to share this folder EASILY (mutters about Microsoft)
So, any help you guys could shed on this would be very much appreciated..
Thanks!
