was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this motherboard(msi KT4V).. I am using it in my home system and it seems to be doing ok.. I have AMD xp2600 processor on it with 512 ram as well.. only thing that puzzled me about the board when I recieved it was it only has the 20 pin atx connector and not the additional 4 pin 12v conector required by I thought all xp athalon and pentium 4 processors... any input on this greatly appreciated...

i dont think the 4pin 12v is required at all, im not 100% sure tho, obviously your board does not need it, i have 2 boards w/o it and 1 with it so i think you dont need it..

some of the newer amd boards have it, when you see that plug it means your vcore is coming from the 12v rail, my msi k7n2 delta (nf2) has it, and i needed a new psu because of it. my step fathers abit kd7 (kt400) also has it, but there are some that dont have it, like the asus a7n8x (nf2).

its just a choice by board manufacturers right now, but it looks like the trend is going to all boards pulling cpu vcore off of the 12v rail
