ok arctic is here but on my cpu there is a little metal square mounted on my chip that touches the base that the heatsink rests on. im pretty sure that this little metal square is the only pace i put the grease except for the chip on either side of the cpu right?
stupid question im sure, but humor me lol

Precisely. That little square is commonly referred to as the "slug" or "die". Use a razor blade to spread the AS2 on the slug. Depending on how flat your HS is, you should only need a very fine amount on the chip. Too much and it will just leak out the side and gooify the chip.

hey thanx... you are saying i need a thin layer onthe slug and a thin layer on the actual chip the slug sits on?
or did u mean on the chip on the sides of the cpu?

Just on the little square. It should look like the picture below. They actually have an instructions page on how to do it here (http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm). Just make sure you dont use too much. Also another option that i highly recommend is lapping the heatsink. You basically just sand it so that the underside is as flat as possibe. Lemme know if you have any other questions.

Just noticed about the slug/chip reference. I use chip, slug, die interchangeably. Sorry about the confusion.

I recently just put some of that stuff on my old Slot A the other day... Just whack i directly above the core on the heatplate... You don't need that much...

Artic Silver II is awesome. Excellent heat transfer!
