which one is better for overclocking and gaming?
i have celeron 566@850 and my friend had athlon slota 550 and it was running faster in 3dmark2k and q3 with same videocard
and i decided to change my mobo and cpu
i know amd is cheaper than intel but i dont know if they are worth it

more like which is better P3 or Duron. Sisoft says I get better perfomance from Duron than P3 and I have seen articles with eng samples taht show the durons perform almost as well as P3 like 5% less or more depending on the benchmarks run. Duron750 sells for 38bucks!!! if you are a Celery man you will love teh duron600 most get a gig out of them!! I don't know if you can still find the good chips but look at the CPU database on the front page.

The Duron is better than the Celeron as it runs on a faster FSB as standard than the majority of Celerons. The Duron runs on a 100 mhz FSB while most Celerons run on a 66 mhz bus with only the latest Celerons using a 100 mhz bus speed. The Duron has 64 mb of cache running at die speed while the Celerons ranged from having no cache to having cache which I understand does not run at die speed, however I may be wrong
It is hard to say which is better from a point of overclocking as there are exceptions such as the 300a Celeron which was a really good CPU from a point of overclocking, but in general when you consider the price and the results I believe the Duron is better.
The Tbird has two major advantage points over the Pentium 3 and even Pentium 4 and that its faster and cheaper than its rivals. I have seen benchmarks where the standard Tbird 1.2 easily out performs the 1.5 Pentium, so apart from having greater performance from standard its also a easier CPU to overclock..

Its worth having a look at the CPU database on the front of this site

duron>celeron
duron=P3 Flops
tbird>P3 and P4
u can unlock these bad boys unlike the p3 which I have a 600 and 750duron and the duron is only about 1/5 faster which means it is just as fast clock for clock. tested with voodoo3 2000 in UT. Just get a cheap p3 if you already have a mobo adn don't need another box!

But the duron is ALOT then i mean alot faster than a celleron!!! and alot cheaper:)
