I'm looking for a 512mb stick that will do 2-2-2 timings.

The only thing I'm not sure about is what speed to get, I'm running PC2700 right now at a 173 fsb but it doesn't do very fast timings.

Should I go with Mushkin 512mb PC2700 with a 2-2-2 garuntee? I can get that at newegg for $114. Hopefully that'll do the tight timings at a 173 fsb.

But if I ever plan to upgrade to a new mobo and processor I dont want to be stuck with PC2700...

I was also looking at the Mushkin level 2 PC3500 CAS 2-2-2 but thats $157 at newegg, a little steep for my price range.

What would you do?

Save your $$ and get some some Kingston HyperX or If you really wanna save $$ go with some Buffalo Tech Winbond BH-5 chips. Either will do you good. Kingston has 20% off atm..and Buffalo is even less at Newegg.com. Good luck.

Blah, I have kingston and I dont really like it....

But the Hyper X stuff could be completely different though....

I need more opinions.

Link me to some PC3200-3500 512mb Hyper X that is rated 2-2-2 please.

I cant seem to find any for less than mushkin...

This stuff (KHX3200K2 ) supposedly still has BH-5 chips. It's rated at 2-2-2, with KHX3200AK2 rated at 2-3-2 (CH-5). It's still more expansive then Buffalo PC3700 ($103/512MB). And it's only $50 less then Mushkin PC3500 Black Level 2 (1GB/$314).

I only need 512megs of RAM though...

I think I've decided to wait to buy memory until I find a hot deal for this stuff. I'm not in great need for it right now anyway. The only downside is my memory (that I plan on selling to help pay for the new stuff) that I have now wont be worth as much when I want to sell it.

Thanks for the replies.

Get the Mushkin Level 1.. it is the same spec as the Corsair 3200 but cheaper. Or the 3200 Level 2, which is built with bh-5 at newegg for $157.
