i wanna get one so that i can maybe do some volt mods and measure chipset voltage and what not

so will this multimeter be ok for me?

You might as well buy a Radio Shack Meter. Thats exactly what that is. It should be fine for basic tooling around with acurracy of +/- 5-8%.

If you want something to last you a while check out Wavetek's and Fluke meters. You dont need a super expensive one. $30-40 is a good range for a basic meter with +/- 1-2%.

If you want more features like my Wavetek, such as transistor diagnostics, capacitance, TTL loads, ect ect, its in the $100-200 range.

IF you want something basic just for measuring voltage, there will probably be one on the Canadian Tire gas bar coupon soon.
