I intend on getting the Duron 750, was wondering if I can easily overclock this baby to 1 gig (7.5x133) simply by adjusting the fsb to 133 mhz and perhaps upping the voltage a little. Am I going to run into problems?
Thx in advance
Throw in a recommendation for a good HSF for this setup if ya can , thx
Well I have overclocked 5 duron 750 mhz CPUs. of the 5, 2 made 1 ghz, and 3 made 950 mhz. So you got about a 40% chance of making 1 ghz based on my results. Although to get 1 ghz on each of those chips, i had to max out voltage at 1.85 volts. Your results are gonna vary though, depending on what kind of cooling you have.

I have a duron 750. When I first got it I initially tried 7.5*133 with no avail (max voltage). It would get into windows but no stability. So I dialed it down to 9.5*100 and ran that for about a week. I did a lot of burn in stuff, and that was rock stable (still at max voltage). So afterwards I tried 7.5*133 and it was very stable, it has been running for like 3 days with no stability problems (no reboots).
But, for some reason it wont be stable at 10*100 and it wont be stable at 7.5*134, or anything even a bit higher. So I think im stuck at a gig.
I tried the voltage mod but the coke I drank beforehand cost me a $130 mobo, shaky hands + soldering = im an idiot. Now I am without a computer until I can scrounge up the cash for another kt7a-raid. But back to the processor, I think with a little work you can hit a gig.

My D750 can't reach stable 1000 MHz (Windows works, prime95 fails) Max stable is about 980 (7*140) at 1.85V Temps are high (about 67C) at this speed, maybe better cooing can make it stable at 1000 MHz. I "normally" use it at 933 MHz, 1.725V, 60C, full stable.
Ordered Arctic Silver II :-)

look at my signature........
oh yea, how can your guys get it so high while i only max out at the below speed?

I guess it's mainly a matter of luck, but you could try a voltmod.
Get a 600 Duron. Mine overclocks to 8x133 rather effortlessly. Historically, the 600s overclock better than the 750s.

yeah I got stable at 7x138 but sometimes had to drop down to 100fsb when I cold booted. I tried the default voltage mod and the chip went nutz! I may have crossed/shorted bridges but I didn't think so! I would get a different chip! only running at 800 while I reinstall everything.
Wondering if you guys had to connect the L7 bridges to get the vcore to 1.85 or higher, or did you just set it through the BIOS? Thanks

i crossed the bridges on the cpu b/c whatever i set in the bios it just got stuck at 1.888 volt
