View Full Version : Got that nasty interface material off HSF...
But apparently it "leaked" around the core. Is that a bad thing or could it possibly make the CPU nonfunctional?
BTW, thanx to everybody that's been helping me out! I'm just trying to do this right and be cautious, ya know?
what type heat sink compound ar you using?? ;D
No, I'm talking about the interface material that comes with the Thermaltake Volcano II, not my thermal paste.

do you mean the thing that you peel off the bottom of the HSF, the sticky stuff?
My guess is that the stuff is non-conductive and if you can't get the stuff off of the creamic substrate and SMD parts areound the core, don't worry about it. I'm kind of fastidious about my CPU, so I would be picking at it with a dental pick or trying some solvents to see what would dislodge it, but that's just me. For sure, you do not want any remnants on the core. Other than that, its a personal call.
