Im running fine at 1464. Should I try more?
Go for it!
I've got my AXIA 1.2-C @ 1470 on an A7V133 right now.
Three out of the four voices in my head are saying "calm down, don't panic!"
More speed is never enough. What kind of heatsink are you running and what is your voltage at. I am currently running my duron 600@1102. I think water cooling is my next step. BE cooling has some very enticing deals.

If you dont watch ur temps ur gonna end up buying another cpu bro 48c is hot as hell i'd upgrade to a swiftech 462b cooler w/ 80mm delta fan my system has never been happier i used to have similar temps with my stock fan, but now it is idleing at 32c / 89f and playing quake3 for 20 minutes is at 33c / 91f
This is with a fsb of 140 and a multiplier 9 I can't change the multiplier currently cause I have a asus a7m266 mobo which doesn't support overclocking of the cpu multiplier, although I am in the process of doing the clock multiplier mod to my motherboard I ordered the parts from digitech and they are on the way here.
System Specs:
Asus a7m266 Amd 761 chipset Amd northbridge/ Via 686b south bridge
Amd 1.2ghz w/ 266 fsb overclocked to 1.260 ghz (140 x 9 )
Swiftech 462b cooler
3dcool's Tornado 2000 2 90mm intake fans / 2 80 mm exhaust fans
32c idle temp / 89f
33c / 91f playing quake 3 for 20 min
Windows 2000 Service pack 2
Maxtor ata 100 40 gig harddrive
256mb pc2100 Samsung memory
Enermax 450 watt powersupply
Kenwood 72x cd-rom
Yamaha 2100ez cd-rw 16x10x40
48 C is not "dangerously" hot. My 1 ghz at 1400 mhz runs about 32C idle, 57 C under max load, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you go above 60 C is when i'd start to worry. Amd CPU's are specced to be able to handle 95 C of heat, so i'd say keep goin as long as it stays stable :)
Besides, u got an Asus board, and they are know to report 5-8 C temps higher than what it really is.

yeah, for load you aren't doing too bad, especially with the heatsink. Have you lapped the heatsink to get a better surface? Also, are you using Artic Silver, that usually gets another 1-2C in a cpu, plus another 1-2C(maybe more) from lapping. That should give quite a bit of leeway. Also, burn in the cpu, and see if you can drop the voltage to further reduce heat.

and just to make it super clear. Do NOT lap the cpu.

Yeah 48C doesn't seem too bad at all.
My 1.3 @ 1.45 is 45C idle, 52 underload...been fine so far. Using Iwill KK266 board and thermoengine stock fan....
I´ve got my 1000 AVIA @ 1348 , idle 45C, max load 58C.
I´m going to clock it higher when i get my Taisol(copper base)
and an 80mm fan
Birng up the voltage to 1.85 or whatever your mobo will allow, and see if it helps. 1450-1500 is the sweet spot for most axia chips. Sure faster is better, but a 50MHz increase in CPU speed will result in less than 3% overall improvement - IMHO not worth it unless you are deparate.

Im at 1464 now and havent touched it for a few days.
Its running fine and I agree that 50mhz more isnt worth it.
Besides, its been hot here this week. Ambiant is 75f.
My CPU was running 40-45c Idle and 45-48c Loaded.
Im now at 48-51c Idle!! ouch!
