I believe that this method has been floating around the SMP forum here for a while now. The whole thing is old news.

This has been known for a while these guys are merely trying to cover up their earlier mess when they said that these cpus could not be turned into MP's - despite most people knowing for months already that they could!

I think it's (most of the time) even possible to mod them these days just by filling up the lazer cutwith conductive material, without scraping anything.
