I have recently found myself playing soulcalibur for the Dreamcast and I beleive I just got too damn good, too fast. All Soulcaibur is is a combination of Y+B, Y+X, and X+B with the Directional pad. True story: Me and my friends are hanging out at my house and we start playing the Soulcalibur game. I ended up winning 46 matches in a row and they got really mad and bored. So they blind-folded me and I use my best character (Taki) and beat every single one of them. So after that, everyone quit and I just kept kicking the computer's ass.

When ever i have soul calibur competitions, I outlaw 3 things.
1. The same attack 3 times in a row.
2. Repeated Y pressing.
3. Repeated selection of the same character.
Makes things ALOT more fair.
I was playing SC2 the other day with my neighbor, and i paused the game, and it took him 3 seconds to stop pushing random buttons!! I hate playing SC + SC2 with him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah thats just dumb when people do that "'m not saying you do it", but when people keep on doing the same move or comb time after time, that just means they've got no skill.

Wait a minute... Are you serious? I'm dumbfounded... You guys are complaining about exactly what I thought was the best part about playing with your buddies.
I guess I can understand you might be frustrated if there is only one move a person does and that person beats you... But every fighting game I ever played has counter moves, or strategies to overcome any given move. I admittedly don't have any experience with SC, but I was GAWD with DOA2.
The advantage of playing with someone else instead of the computer is randomness or behavior that is less predictable. It's more fun that way. The computer isn't going to do the same gay move that kicks your arse 5 times in a row, but your buddy might - then you are forced to figure out a way to overcome that move or just lose to him "46 matches in a row and blindfolded". Of course, that might not sound like it's random or unpredictable to you, but its a behavior that is unusual/unconventional. And if its successful, why should they not do it? After all, if they are repeating behaviors that whoop you until your junk is black and blue, then shouldn't you expect what is comeing and be able to overcome it?
A friend forces you to learn and get better because, if he finds something that whips the snot out of you, he is going to use it to no end and talk smack in the process. You either have to find a way to get better or... crawl on your knees, wash his dirty laundry for a month, hold your tail between your legs, and grovel for mercy.
So basically, I think the best part about playing a game with a friend is that once they find a weakness that you can't handle, they prey on that to no end. Why make rules against that? A good player should be able to pick up on what the other player regularly does, and find ways to make that hurt him and force him to alter his approach. That's why I loved DOA2 for Dreamcast... you can counter everything, and it allows for unlimited adaptation between players. Adaptation is the funnest part IMHO, so if you can't adjust, I'd just say "sorry about your luck, keep practicing son." ;)

I wasnt complaning, just making a statement :) I know how much fun it is to beat friends, but after awhile if you do it for so long you'll have no one to play with because they wont wanna play with you if you always do it.

I remember beating my friends conitnuously at MK3. I would switch off between Cyrax, Sub Zero, and that little Bruce Lee character. They hated me, and ended up not playing with me anymore. I haven't played any fighting games since.
Try not to beat your friends too much. They might not want to be your friend anymore. Same goes with any type of competition. I have to let my friends win at pool sometimes so they will keep playing. Utter dominance has its disadvantages.

Agreed.
My neighbor gets nightmare, presses Y repeatadly, and is nigh impossible to attack. Unless i go from the side.... But it's not fun playing with someone who has no skill, and demonstrates it by doing 1 attack the entire time!!
My other neighbors, the good ones, have SC2. We dont enforce the 3 attack in a row rule between us. We don't need it! We are better then that. But if the idiotic neighbors come over, start yellin out stuff, and doing the same attack over and over, it gets to a point where you dont want to ever play it again.

I get the **** beat out of me regularly in Halo for Xbox, but I still have fun because half the interaction is actually outside of the game talking to eachother. I guess it would really suck if I was just playing to win, so I can see what you guys mean now that I think about it a little more.

No fun playing with people who use the same specials/combinations/characters over and over again. Believe me, I was one of the people at WiteDeth's house getting his ass kicked.
I haven't played SC in a long time with anyone because I kept beating my friends. Same with Street Fighter II. We keep playing Mortal Kombat(or any variations of) cause I can never get used to that blasted block button.

Well I guess it would not be any fun playing starcraft against me either ;), so we all do it.
