Hello everyone. I built this computer about one year ago and now im considering overclocking it a bit. However I need some info before I do. With the info listed below, how far in Mhz could I get with my CPU. I will be using air cooling listed below. Not sure where to start so with that below, tell me what I can do with it. Thanks! :D

Mobo: Asus A7V333
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2200+
PSU: Antec Truepower 480w
RAM: Corsair pc2700
Video: GeForce 4 ti4600
Case: Thermaltake Xaser II 5000+
HSF: Thermaltake Volcano7+

ok first of all overclocking isn't ever certain. all cpus and MB react differently to each other so its all trial and error. but ya ne way you MB only goes up to 166 maybe 170 for FSB so try to raise your FSb as close to 170 as possible. then if possible you can try to increase the cpu multiplier. and when your doing this and something happens to your computer like it doesnt boot up DON'T PANIC!!! cause all you have to do is turn it off and increase the voltage, but if you have to increase the voltage more than 1.9v i dont recommend doing that. (accually i dont even recommend going over 1.875, cause 1.9 on air is too high) and ya thats pretty much it all you have to do is play around with it untill its at its best setting. good luck!

To answer your q, how far will it overclock? After reading up on

and gradually getting to your highest OC.

MHz = FSB x multiplier.
With safe Vcore of 1.8 volts max, and with your PC2700 memory and non PCI locked VIA chipset mobo, you're looking at:
at most low 180s FSB. The multiplier will depend on the target MHz:

There are 2200+ T-Bred A's and T-Bred B's.
You'll probably get less but
If you have an 'A,' at most 2.0 GHz
If you have a 'B,' at most 2.3 GHz.

How can you tell, which CPU you have, CODES! is one way:

but there's also a program called GCPUID, click here

Good luck man!
