View Full Version : How to make mic sounds NOT go through the speakers
Ok, I've got a sound blaster live x-gamer sound card. I just recently installed teamspeak so that I can chat with people I'm playing games with. Everything with teamspeak appears to be working wonderfully. The problem I am having is that every single sound that goes through my microphone is echoed through my speakers.
Soo...how can I prevent my microphone from echoing through my speakers?

Mute the mic in the playback mixer.
Also make sure the mic is selected as the source (in the recording mixer) and not "what you hear."
And how would I access the playback mixer and such? I have no added features installed for my sb live at the moment. Only that regular old volume control thingie that appears in the taskbar. And, as far as I know, there is non mixer playback options or anything in there.
The playback options are in the volume control panel. Open up the volume control panel then in Options, choose Properties. Check the circle that says "Playback" and make sure you have the "Microphone" box checked on the bottom too. Then you should be able to mute the mic from the control panel.

To get to the recording mixer you just launch the windows mixer click options, properties, then you select the recording option and hit OK. You may have to change the mixer properties to have it show all of the options. ;)
I can see the microphone in the mixer settings. I can also mute the microphone from there. That is how I have had my mic for a long time now. The problem is that now I need to use the microphone so people can hear my voice but I do not want the sound from the microphone to echo through my speakers.
At the moment I can mute the microphone so it doesn't echo through my speakers but that would make me be unable to use the microphone. I can also turn on the microphone to be able to use it, but then all of the sound is echoed through my speakers.
EDIT: never mind! I was just retarded the whole time! I thought my microphone could not be used when that button is muted. I'm just a ******. Muting the mic works fine.
