First of all I know my chip sucks but I have to use it for about another month or two so can anyone give me some help on over clocking this one I have a asus a7v Mb don't worry about cooling I have awesome cooling so that not a factor now at idle on normal it runs at 32c

Well I dont think the Duron 800 sucks, it gives a great performance considering the price.
You need to unlock the CPU and then slowly turn up the multiplyer and FSB. The Duron 800 usually hits somewhere around the 1 Ghz.. try for a high FSB if possible (7.5x133 is faster than 10x100 even though both get you 1ghz) how higher a FSB you can get greatly depends upon the quality of your components and the memory.
How high you can overclock greatly depends upon heat as this CPU runs quite warm and may be a area for concern as underload the temps can rise quite quickly.

im not sure exactly what you need so ill give as much as possible on my system i have 1 128mb 100mhz memory , 1 128 mb 133mhz memory and, 1 32mb 100mhz memory modules i have 2 hard drives 1 20 gig and 1 15 gig i have a prophet II 64mb vga vid card a sound blaster live sound card a linksys ethernet card 1 and 2 cd-roms and 1 floppy
my processor says the id# is 00000631 0183f9ff supported voltage is 1.6 max speed is 1200mhz current is 840mhz@105mhz external clock
my motherboard is asus a7v with max of 200mhz fb chipset is via vt8363(kt133)+via vt82c686a also can be jumper free

BURN THAT 100MHz RAM!!
this will be were you will fail if you don't take that 100MHz ram out of your machien! also a tip that i have is to burn in the cpu as much as possible. this will crank up the clock no matter what the quality of the core is

Some PC100 sticks can handle it. I'm typing this on a Duron 750 at 1Gig, with 2 sticks of PC100 at 7.5x133, CAS 2, fastest settings. The PNY/Seimens stick will do at least 161 at CAS3.

I don't think the PC100 is going to be a problem on that board. You have the KT133 chipset, the best you can expect out of it will be between 105 to 110 MHz FSB. If you haven't already done so, you will have to unlock the multipliers. after that is done, if you follow the accepted procedures for overclocking, you should be able to do pretty good with it. Make sure you have a good hsf, I prefer Global Wins, stay away from the "ORBS", they tend to be tough on the cores of the CPU's.

Check the results in the CPU database for other 800's, I believe a lot of them are hitting 1g. I've had very good success with the A7V even straddled by that KT133 FSB issue.

Well, i am running the same ...Duron 800 @ 1009mhz..(10x100) 1.85v on the Asus A7V. My idle temp is around 43c...49c full load. I am using the Chrome Orb..(to which will be replaced with a GlobalWin FOP38 or 55. Its been running very stable for about a week so far. I am looking to lower my temp alot more..then upping the speed. Still fairly new to this..but learning

I have same mobo and you can clock good with jumpers and dipswitches however i have only been able to reach 105 mhz stable fsb, i didnt have very good results using bios had a duron 800 running stable at 1033 now have a Tbird 850mhz running stable at 1009 mhz I use the superorb and with good case venting my temps at idle 35c and under load 43-44c Durons seem to oc better than tbirds i think due to the default voltage of duron is 1.5-1.6 volts and tbird is 1.70 both cpu's i run at max the board will do w/o voltage mod which is 1.86. Does your board have both sets of dipswitches??? if not i dont know how much you will get out of it but duron 800 is a good cpu!! :D

My mobo does have both sets of dip switches as the most ive done is change the settings through the bios screen and am running it now with 109 fsb but is the only change ive made so far

I switched back to my Duron and am running totaly stable at 1030 103fsbx10.0 multi my temps under 100% cpu usage are about 2-3 deg higher than my Tbird but i think it is because Duron has a smaller die. Dump the bios for oc and dump the 100mhz ram I now have 512meg of pc133 and I know it will run stable at 140-142hz I have had it there but I found that my whole sys, windows etc... runs more stable with lower fsb I have heard the a7v is not very stable above 103-105mhz fsb and I believe it is true. I have tweaked this board alot since i got it. You are welcome to email me if you have any more specific questions, the a7v manual gives good directions on how to set the board up for jumper mode.
