Hey guys Im new to OCing so here it goes.
I got an AMD Duron 800mhz socket in a Suttle that uses Award Bios.My motherboard is jumperless as far as OCing goes but clockable in the bios. I was able to get it up to 896mhz.
What I want to know is how hot can a Duron get before I need to worry?
Right this second I got it set at 882mhz and running stable at 34core temp 34sys temp. Im asuming my voltage is set to 1.64.
Mainly concerned about temp but if anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to pipe in whith whatever youd like.
Thanx guys ......looking forward to a new experience in computing and this board seems pretty friendly.

The Duron runs slightly warm anyway however 50c is when you should start showing concern. (My Duron 800 temps .. CPU @ 35 c... System @ 26 c loaded)
The Duron 800 is a pretty good CPU with regards to overclocking, and most hit around 1 ghz, in order to do this though the CPU must be unlocked and the system should feature a good hsf and additional cooling if needed such as case fans. When setting up the Duron try to go for a high FSB if possible (7.5x133 is faster than 10x100 even though they both give you 1 ghz) how fast you can go greatly depends upon the quality of your components and ram, only you can establish this by trying.
Welcome to the Forum.. I would suggest reading the beginners guides on the front of this site.. but if you need anymore help tell us more about your system.

Temps are subjective. You will find out that there is a sweet sport for every cpu. Unless you are worried about long-term damage (will you really use this cpu in more than 5 years?), as long as it does not show instability, it obviously can handle the temps.

Oh yeah and Voodoo 3 300 PCI ( i know working on it) lol
Maestro (May 21, 2001 08:32 p.m.):
I have a Duron 650 @ 1050 and max load temp of 45c and idle around 35 c with 1.85v applied. If you stay out of the 50c range you should be fine but Duron Die Size is smaller then a T-Bird and a bit tougher to cool because of it. I have never seen a Duron hit 1.1 ghz yet if someone has I will be amazed. Perhaps with watercooliing ....

My 600 Duron runs solid at 1120 Mhz (8x140) using a Swiftech MC-462A and Cohesive Air Cooling. See my article on the front page, if you haven't already.

I don't know about the Shuttle, but on an ASUS, you're safe into the upper 50's.
