I recently spent loads of dosh on a ABIT KT7A Raid, Athlon 'C' 1.2GHz, 2 sticks of 128MB PC133 Micro Q (7ns), Taisol CGK742092, and a Super Power Case.

My problem is that to run at 9 * 133, I have to set the VIO voltage to 3.5, which equals 3.56 in the bios health check to get it to soft reboot after puting it under load.

At 3.3v (3.36 in h/w monitoring) it will not boot.

At 3.4 (3.46 in h/w monitoring) it will cold boot ok, go into win98 + do anything u wish. But if I close and restart windows after the CPU has been put under high load it starts to post but then comes up with the :-

"Bios Rom Checksum error...Detecting floppy drive A...Insert System Disk and press Enter"

It will then not soft or hard reboot unless I leave it off for ten minutes!

It works fine at 3.4vio (3.46vio) if I am just on the net and then soft reboot!

I have tried just running with one stick of mem (in different slots) with just my Prophet 2 MX + HD connected but no joy! Also tried different core voltages......no joy !

I don't like running it at 3.56 VIO......

Also when I am changing the VIO values in the bios, if the voltage is set below 3.5 v it hangs when it tries to reboot after saving the changes !

My PSU is made by Aone rated at 300W, combined +5V and +3.3V is 165W. I am not running any drives on the RAID channels.

Temps are 27 / 33 idle, 27 / 50 Sandra 2001 Burn in.

It runs fine at 12 * 100, with ram running at 133 (HCLK+PCICLK), vio at 3.3v, vcore at 1.75v.

Can anyone please help me !

Man that is a bios failure, you better have that fixed if the board is still under warranty, mine did that once about 2 weeks ago and then started fine with a reboot then permantly Saturday and they are shipping a new bios to me,I tried to flash it and it wont let me,trust me call the mb manufactor and see if they dont tell you the same thing that I just did,you better check it out soon,WILDONE

It is an Award bios v6.00PG, flashed to YH.

I have no trouble when I set the vio to 3.5 or do 12*100.

I got no errors when I flashed the bios, should I flash it again ?

I dont think its an bios failure since it also happened on my kt7 when u oc or use too little voltage. Then u get that error msg. Must be that the cpu or the mobo chipset wont handle 133fsb. There is NOTHING wrong with the bios.

My esperience:
bios WW max fsb 110
bios ZT max FSB 140!!!!
My Tbird 1200 is now at 1400 (140X10) and with old bios only 1320..........
So FLASH Your BIOS and good luck

Post a problem and you get tons of different suggestions. Here's my experience.

I have T-Bird 1.33 C and it was keep crashing in Windows at 10x133FSB which means I wasn't overclocking anything. No matter what I tried, I kept getting registry error win Win98 on my MSI K7Master mobo but everything was running stable at 10x100FSB. Then someone at MSI messageboard suggested that it might be power supply problem. I had about 5 year old Antec 300w PSU. It was bit old but I thought 300w power supply is all the same. Guess not. I unplugged 3 of my 4 case fans and unplugged my secondary slave drive. And it was running much more stable. I still got few random crashes in 3DMark2001 but not like before when I had registry error every time upon startup. So I got a new 450w Enermax powersupply (there goes another 100 bucks) and it runs stable with everything plugged back in. Now time to do some overclocking.

Like few of the above suggestions, this may not be related to your problem but there's almost no power supply recommended by AMD that's below 300w. Which tells me that 300w is pretty much the minimum. And if you're overclocking, it probably is good idea to get 350w or higher PSU.

I am thinking it could be a PSU problem. I have now also been having problems @ 12*100 : It seems that when the PC is on for more than 40 mins it has problems soft booting.
If I try and change any bios settings without a 'cold' PC it does not reboot itself when you save the changes. I have to turn off and let it cool down so that I can boot. Although if I clear the bios with the jumper and reboot (when warm) it will boot ok!

However, bumping up the vio to 3.56 (actual value) helps quite a bit. Is it safe to run at this voltage?

There is nothing wrong with running the Vi/o at 3.56. That's what it takes to get my FSB above 140. If you case is properly ventilated you will be fine.

Flashed to ZT bios and will soft restart 50% of time but still won't soft restart when running hot (50 C).

Does it take more power to boot when hot? + Does it take a lot of power to save bios changes?

I have noticed that my North Bridge is hot if you touch the top of the fan immediatly after a power off!
