Ok, i must be the stupidest person on the planet if i can't overclock an ABIT KT7A RAID Motherboard and a 1.2 GHz AMD AXIAM chip! FACTORY UNLOCKED!!! wtf is my problem? i'm running it very stable at 1200(133) multiplier is 9x133!! what can of multiplier can i use to have this system accept it? it seems to be restarting right before it gets into my desktop. i've tried running it at 10x133 but it doesn't like it. it never likes running at anything other that what the cpu is. Can anyone who has this general setup please let me know what their multiplier/FSB are set at exactly? thanks!!! here's my specs

Abit KT7A RAID motherboard
latest ZT bios (also tested with yz/wh bios)
AMD 1.2 GHz AXIAM chip (unlocked)
384MB 133MHz SDRAM 1/256 and 1/128 (tested with just 256 dimm also) (not sure if it's quality or not) (thinkin about getting some Crucial or Corsair)
30.7GB IBM 75GXP Deskstar ULTRA DMA 100
Visiontek GEForce 3
Soundblaster Live Sound Card
NetGear 10/100 NIC

400Watt Power Supply
8 total fans in case

THANKS!!!!!

You may be able to run a faster FSB than 133 mhz but obviously it greatly depends upon the quality of your components and memory, but you wont know untill you try it

Duron 800 @ 1050 with Global Win FOP-32 (140 x 7.5)
Abit KT7A-Raid Mobo
512 mb (Crucial Stuff CAS 2)
Hard Drive Cooler
Elsa Eraser X2 Gforce with Blue Orb (modified to display as a Quadro and overclocked http://www.tweakhardware.com/guide/quadro/ )
Sound Blaster Live Value
Full Tower with 5 (120 mm) case fans with seperate PSU

Try raising the vcore voltage a bit but watch ur temps, they should not go over 50c then ul need a better heatsink
THANKS!!!!!

Not being funny or anything, but you haven't included the most vital info about your rig, your hsf! Most likely your hsf, isn't suitable. Also tell us what exactly is going wrong with your oc.

Is your system not posting, not loading up win98/win2k or getting BSODs etc. This info can help us help you :)

Alrighty, heatsink is a Kanine Hedgehog, it's really good. I'm not trying to be funny but the heatsink won't NOT let your computer boot. My cpu doesn't ever get above 45C. I'm particularly looking for peoples Multiplier/FSB settings so that i can make sure that i'm not just typing in crap that's not going to work. I will try the Vcore next. I'm just wondering if there is a bad Multiplier/FSB combo. Like does 8x133 work or not or 9x136 work or not. ya know what i mean? Ok, all you computer gurus! let's see that knowledge!

verify that it is unlocked . My chip looked unlocked but when I had it under a magnifier , I saw the very faint lines of a laser cut. I was stuck at 133x 7.5. Got some silver epoxy for crazypc and dabbed it on the bridge.... I in test mode at 135x10 ...stable so far...

Yes, the chip is unlocked. there is a clear difference from my Locked 1GHz and my Unlocked 1.2GHz. Ok, anyone out there who's smart enough to figure this out i'll give them 10 BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

There was no clear difference on my AXIA. It had visible bridges across the L1 but it would not over clock. Under 5 Diopter magnification, I saw that there was a laser cut accross the four bridges. Just for grins and to humor me, how about doing a bit of penciling over the bridges. I got to 1463 before I throttled back (heating concern, I was at 52 C under 100% load) and am sitting at 1350 now.

Now we're talking...(JK)

Assuming that this is a 266 Chip, leave the multiplier at 9 for now, and just raise the FSB to 135 or 140. Does it still boot into windows? If not, raise the voltage by 0.05.

How does this work?

i`ve heard their was a batch of 1.2 axia`s which r locked internally and can not be messed arround with the fsb or the multiplier...
it was intended for the OEM market...
seen it couple of them in OCAU a while ago...
maybe u just might have one of them...
but i could be wrong....

1. Is your KT7A set to jumperless ie. is the BIOS able to override the hardware.

2. take a pencil/conductive epoxy/defrogger pen over those L1 bridges. use a maginfying glass/microscope/etc to look carefully at what you are doing.

3. If it is on jumperless but the thing still wont work then try using jumpers.

4. Ok, still no luck? Take the voltage up to 1.85volts (all L7 bridges connected) and try again.

5. If all else fails try pencil 'n' cut. There are certain combinations for different multipliers, search the web or ask here for the URLs

Email me or send a message - I'll give you the address to send the cheque to. (the s&h will be more than the cheque - I live in Scotland, UK hehehe).

Try using a friends processor and see if your system lets it OC. If the system does let it OC,. its your proc - by a new one or have a muck about with it. If it doesn't, its your mobo.

pull your sound blaster and see what u can do, then pull your 128 ram, replace ur sound blaster, try that, pull just your nic, see what u can do. Try bumping your fsb up by 1s see what it does. I would gess that u just need to tweek, check your settings, read your man, check bios settings to the man specs. I can run certain speeds flawlessly, but try and just squeeze in a 1 more fsb with a 4 way interleave and bam, remove 4 way interweave and get 3 more fsb increase, but at what gain? Tweak and TS, this is the fun. Check the basics first and(HEAT is BAD) also w2k needs sp1 or better to jump the 1300 mark, w/good results, good luck but if u dont want to do the tweak, tweak, tweaking, u might as well run at default, cause(I think, no insult intended, please) u are missing the point.
