cant boot from cd

I am trying to build my wife a new sys and I cant get the thing to boot from cd!!!! It recognizes the drive and the bios is set to have the first boot device as the cd. but it skips it and goes strait to hdd. I am trying to install xp pro. it is a gigabyte board. ga7dx+
please help.

Do you have more than one CDROM? I've done that before, put the CD in my CDRW, when the DVDROM was actually the boot device.

Yeah, I'd try puting "CD" as the first two boot devices, then harddrives last. You can change the bios configuration later.

thanks for the warm welcome. I finnaly got it around 2:00am. It was the cd drive that was not letting me do it. It was being read in the bios but not during boot. I put a new one in and it installed smooth as silk.
