1st post eh? Calm down man, dont go straight to water cooling / kryotech sh*t!

I've had a very successful overclock with my K6-2 450@495 recently. To overclock your K6-2 i recommend building up your fsb bit by bit. I would make sure that you have an excellent hsf and good cooling in your case. And ensure that you have applied good thermal compound (Arctic Silver).

K6-2's require soooo much juice to get them to run faster, eg my system is running at 2.7v to get it stable. Dont push the voltage past 2.9v though, especially if your pc runs hot.

Good luck on your o'c, dont expect too much, dont expect too little :)

With a 500, the best you could hope for is 600.
the k6-2 core just cant go any faster than that. my 450 will top out at 550, dont live more than 2.5 volts (2.2 default) and my friend cant even overclock his 500 at all, his heatsink sucks so...

Make sure you hvae a good heatsink as k6-2's are hot

Could only get my K6 2-500 to 560 stable. When I still had it.

Get a GOOD HSF, there not to much $$.

Good Luck.

caps lock = shouting= rudeness.

personal experience w/ K6-2 450
O/C'd to 560 @ 2.2v only too unstable that low.
with 2.8v was stable 560mhz aircooled, temps were 40-45*

what you have, if temps are 80*... is a problem.
read the guides on the front page, i highly suggest all of them.
my duron 700 is at 45* and they run a whole hell of alot hotter than any K6
coincidentally, i'm using the same aircooler setup on this one.

you have no need for watercooling on a K6-2...
that chip will be lucky to hit 560 as it is, water won't help as it isn't a heat issue with them. IMO

Dude getting a K6-2 500 to 600 - I cant see that being very stable - but i guess it all depends on HSF and mobo - I have the following:

AMD K6-2 (CXT) 500
JETWAY 531CF Mobo
PixelView Riva TNT2 M64
Seagate 6.4GB UDMA 33 Hard drive
Mustek 8x4x32 Burner
192MB PC-133 (running 100) (1x128MB, 1x64MB)

As you can see I have a very budget System.
I have o/ced a little bit -but makes big difference in games - I have the FSB @ 112 and multiplier down to 4.5 (from 5) Giving me only 504 mhz (laugh) - *but* the scores in 3dmark and Sanda 2001 were increased A LOT. I can only get it to 560 if i increase to 2.8 (cant even choose 2.6 - or 2.7) and is very unstable.

On top of that I have a very crappy HSF and no thermal compund. Why dont I? Well im poor, about to move abroad and got no job.

If you want to _read_ about my lame ass mobo and laugh at me goto www.jetway.com.tw

Oh yeah and the funny thing is (except for my AMD CPU) all of my computers part's manufacturer's websites end in a .com.tw (lol) all l cheap taiwan.

Haha... this is pretty funny.. why dont you just go and buy a new board and cpu? ohwell.. "Silly Newbies.. The Lead Is For Wamp!" but anyway... I got my old 350 K6-2 working stable as charm (as for overclocking.. windows was a different story rather I oced it or not haha) at 450Mhz.. which is pretty good for stalk cooling fan ^_^ im gonna buy a better HSF for it and take it to 500 or even 550... I had the voltage running at 2.6 and I had it like that for over a year!
