if you never heard of it go to http://www.athlonoc.com/tweakvia1.htm

For people who do use it or have heard of it does it hurt anything for me to change offset 52 to EB and change??
when i did this my sound was distorted so i changed offset 70, bit 2 to enable. this caused my temperature to drop more and sound to clear up.

I have asus a7v133 - athlon 1ghz @ 1.4
now idling 10 degrees lower thanks to this at 33degrees

Does this hurt anything or does anyone have any comments about me doing this. Any horor stories or stories of "JOY" are appriciated greatly.
THANKS

I have using these settings for about a week now, no probs at all, I have no sound card so the soung thing is new, but the EB settings helped me get cooler by 5-6c. Good Luck

Yes, I use it. Dropped idle temp from over 50C to lower than 30C.
You do not have to use wcpredit - it is enough to install wcprset and set $52 to $EB or $EC or something with bit 7 set at 1.
It can work bad with SB Live, but I don't have this card - I have ISA AWE64 Gold, it works OK.

Redline,
What setting exactly did you change from what to what to disable the sound distortions?

i went to offset 70
then i hit edit and made the third last number of the bin (which is bit 2) enabled by changing its value to 1 instead of zero.

i read that others have done this but i just dont know why motherboard manufacturers dont do this....is there any draw back... i wish i could talk to more people about this and if it hurts anything!

When I changed offset 70,bit 2 to enabled, I can't play my movies anymore and my mouse froze intermittently !!?

u really sure that having LOW idle temps for the cpu??? 30c - 55c loaded is hell of a variation so u sure its better for the cpu to have this variation than having it at 45-55c??? i dont think its healthy for the chip too have this variation in temp from idle too loaded
