Hi All !

My one gots at normal running about 66 C (Win 98 or W2k), when i m playing about 71C, is that too much ??? I know it s max temp is 95C, but when i read the articles...most of you got less temp...so is it needed for me to buy a new cooler ??

Greetings

BTW: sorry for opening a new thread, i normally wanted to reply to an older one

i think so
i would think that going higher than 50 degrees celsius would be bad

71 Degrees is too high for me. Remember that the 95 degrees is DIE temperature. And the thermy is not even close to the die, so if it says 71 degrees @ approx. 1/4 or 1/8 inch off the CPU, on the DIE itself may have already reached the 95 degrees. Don't let it run that high too long. Better take better care of it so not to fry it or shorten its life cycle.

Good luck and take care.

Hi all !

THX for your answers so far, now i ve got one side of the case open...and ASUS probe shows me 61C for CPU and 38C for the mainboard.

Seems to be that the hot air can t get out of the case. Would be great if you could have a look on this:

my CPU-Cooler: http://www.kmelektronik.de/root/shop4/2118i.htm
and a cooler for the case: http://www.kmelektronik.de/root/shop4/341i.htm

So you think my CPU should be around 50C at "normal" use (just Internet-Surfing etc.) ?

Greetings
Ciaco

have u checked ur temps in bios?? Asus probe gives me 10c too high reading for me. if the temps is lower in bios try download motherboard monitor 5.5 instead. that gives me accurate reading on my asus a7v133a

mate. what you need is some arctic silver 2 ...i dunno where u can get it from cos i borrowed some when i put it on, but it made my temp drop by about 5 degress ....also make sure the heatsink is on tight.........if you have a large heatsink like i do, maybe you could install 2 fans by the side of each other...this also helped drop my temps..... also....have a fan at the front sucking air in, and at the back, put another fan, but swap the wires around so it blows air out, so theres no stale air.........hope all that helps!!!

HI All!

I ve ordered a new cooler for the CPU: "Global Win FOP 32-I", this one should be very good, i ve read some articles and tests about it.

The other thing that i will change: A new power-unit, which will get the hot air from the case...if that will not help...i ll curry my computer to alaska :-)

BTW: Maybe Asus Probe is really the problem ? CPU Cool 6.012 shows me a CPU temp of 53 C - i m confused, which one is right ? Is the temperature at BIOS more "serious" ???

The Asus probe is notoriuosly inaccurate.

You may want to consider a more powerful cooler than the GlobalWin Fop-32-1. It is not really an industrial strength cooling solution for such a fast, hot running processor.

Try some of the solutions found here (http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/). The GlobalWin Fop-32-1cooler, if used as part of an overall cooling solution that includes a great case cooling set-up may prove adequate. I would rather spend an extra 10-20 USD and buy a premium HSF, and incorporate that into my overall cooling solution.

Hi there !

THX for your answer. Actually i got a CPU temp of 44 C - 46C with newest CPUCool version installed (and cooling activated), when i read that article at this site, this is totally OK, or ?

Maybe i ve not to buy anything new ???

Mainboard has 36C (Asus A7V133) now.

I really think the only problem i got was Asus Probe....

My Athlon Axia 1G oced to 1.4G never got hotter than 45C, full load. Idle, CPU's temp is 38C, system temp is about 26C. I have a mid tower with 2 80x80 Sanyo denki, one sucks, one blows. Also I put another 80x80 Sanyo on top of the cooler master DP5 6H51. The whole system is cool enough and quiet too. Yes, anything above 50C would be bad.
