They will be tested on this setup:

Abit NF7-S 2.0
1 gig Buffalo 3700 RAM
Soft modded 9500np
Watercooled CPU, chipset, and GPU in this setup.
Antec True 550

The RAM comes in Weds or so and testing will begin. I can't wait!

You could run GCPUID which will tell you if its an A or B. I'm interested in these new TbredAs. Unless they're just a typo on AMD's part it weird that they start producing As all of a sudden, and I did see some later As.

The 1700 is an A as shown by the AIRGA. Unless they've changed their coding lately, you're out of luck.

The 1800, however, is a B. That particular week has been hitting 2.4-2.5. So you did well with that one anyway.

the 1700 is most definately an a. the 1800 should do very nicely though. amd wouldn't mark an tbred b as an a because they are different chips they have a compltely different lithography mask. If they remarked them they wouldn't be able to keep track of what they had in inventory the way they would like. My guess is the a's showing up lately are just wafers that haden't been used which is why they only appear to be showing up in 1700 form. just my .02

Why the heck did you buy from newegg when you knew full well it's A's as often as B's over there unless you buy a 2100+?

is the 1700 a t-bred a? or is it one of the newer b's marked w/ a?

[Sheila Broflovski] What, what, what?
T-Bred A's have a stepping code which ends in "A": xxxA are T-Bred A's

T-Bred B's have a stepping code which ends in "B": xxxB are T-Bred B's

Well where can I buy a 1700 and not get one besides Excalibur? I can't use that site for some unknown reason and you seem to know it all.

Sorry big man, I thought you participated in the other threads when we discussed this, here you go:

1700+ at gameve.com:
http://www.gameve.com/store/gameve_viewitem.asp?idproduct=267

1700+ & 1800+ (That's just the two of those, not higher rated CPUs) at this place:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductList.jsp?ThirdCategoryCode=010413
(click on 'next' at the bottom of the page.)

2100+ (that's just the 2100+, not lower CPUs) at newegg.com:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...343&manufactory=1028&DEPA=1&sortby=14&order=1

Thanks for the links. I ended up donating the CPU to my wife's non-profit. They needed a comp and my Barton was going so I replaced it, so it wasn't all that bad.
