iive seen many methods

some peope like Kenneth CHong take a 5k BTU air con, and slap the evap into a big cooler

others use a freezer/fridge to chill their coolant

i was wondering which one would be easier and more convinient

furthermore,

what else woudl I need besides insulation?
would i use water? antifreeze? alcohol?

please help

hi there,

well it all depends on the which one you have available first, but if you had to choose between the two, freezer/fridge is more warranty to work, why? because some ac have the evaporator in a position-connection that makes it very dificult to put it in a bath of liquid,

but ussually the ac will work best, why? because ac are designe to keep cooling alot of air, and some fridges won't keep coolant cold because they are design to cool something that doesn't produce any heat

I will suggest windshield waper fluid for temps above -25c, for anything below that pure alcohol would be preferred, stay away from water for ovious reason, and also from anti-freeze it really sucks, it was mainly design for some coldness but it was really design to work in a heated environment, the car for example will be cold at the begining but after a while it becomes red hot, thats where anti-freeze shines

well good luck and you need some dielitec grease too;)

I highly reccomend refrigerated water baths (find em on ebay). No modding reqired, and they are doing what they are designed to do- chill water.

I did the fridge thing and switched to a water bath, and boy was it an improvement!

When I did my chiller I went with ethanol, work good, haven't try isopropyl alcohol, maybe someone might answer that
