Well, I did the pencil trick, but I can't change the multiplier. I goto "clock by slight adjust" in the BIOS, but the only thing it has when I go there is "Default". What do I need to do?

It sound like you still have a L1 problem. Verify that all you L1 are "penciled" in appropiately. You know that the pencil trick is temporary (few months depending on graphite quality) and use a high graphite content lead better than a 2 or 2HB. Best to use a silver epoxy (crazypc.com has a kit with instructions). don't solder unless you have SMT background. Once the unlocking is ok then you can go into the MSI Bios . I'm at 1.417 Ghz on a 1 GHz TB 266. Temp is 44 at full load, case open with ahouse fan to cool the whole thing, HSF is a Swiftech MC462-A. Note that folks tend to get warmer temp reading with a MSI board. See O/C article on MSI MB Temp.

So, once I've done the pencil trick correctly, there will be a new option in there?

In the Frequency/Voltage Control section of your BIOS
you should be able to change your Vcore from default, Clock by Slight Adjust, and CPU clock ratio. If the L1 did not take then changing you CPU clock ratio will either lock up your system or ignore it. If it locks, clear the BIOS by resetting the CMOS jumper. You should be able to move your Clock by Slight adjust already above 133 (unless you forgot to pull the jumper off the MSI MB -there is a jumper for FSB 100/133 with no jumper being 133). And watch the temperature !

Ok, right now when I goto CPU Clock Ratio, it has Default and a little box next to it with a dot in it, and that's all thats there. When I successfully connect the bridges will there be more options there?

yes

oops no....I mean you should already have a selection list: default , 7.5, 8, 8.5,....to 15
You just can't use them unless the L1 is unlocked

Hmm...I dont' have a selection list. All I have is default. Do I need to update my BIOS? If I do, can you tell me how, or point me to a web page that does? Thanks

Your MSI MB CD has a SW called MSI Live BIOS which will link verify and update you BIOS. It only works with IE. Sorry I couldn't help..and scrolling to that setting with the arrows yields only default?hmmm. MSI tells me I'm at the latest and greatest.

I have IE 5.0, and I installed Live BIOS but it doesn't do anything. It just says "Please wait for a while when do detection.
Your Browser is: Microsoft Internet Explorer". And thats it. It doesn't do anything else.

IE tells me that the page is Done but with errors. Something like "line 60 char: 3 object doesn't support this method". Grr...

ARRGHHH...does anybody have any ideas?

Ok, ok, I figured it out. I was trying to update to the latest BIOS on MSI's site, and it wasn't working. But I tried the one that was one step up from what I had and it worked fine. Anyways, the multiplier options are there now, and I'm able to overclock.

Sorry Keldogg, I just got back home.
The web page for MSI is
http://www.msi.com.tw/
The BIOS update is
http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/mainboard/6xxx/k7t_turbo/k7t_turbo.htm
I just accessed it to verify. Yes MSI Live Bios does have some quirks. I like Netscape but suppositely it only works with IE. It took a few tries.
