Hi.

I have a problem with my MSI K7T Turbo: Iīm owning a Thunderbird 1000 (C) (AXIA). I did the pencil trick and wanted to change the multiplier in the BIOS. I put it from default (7.5) to 8. But when I saved and left the BIOS, my display kept black and my machine didnīt start. So I put the jumper on the mobo to change to FSB 100 and started again. Now my CPU was detected as a TB 800. Consiquently, the pencil trick works correctly. But now the problem: I want to overclock ONLY by changing the multiplier, NOT by changing the Front Side Bus. But it seems that I canīt change it when the CPU is running at a FSB of 133. What do I need to do now? Do you have any solutions? Shall I let run my computer with a FSB of 100 with changing the multiplier? Iīm confused, īcause I have a C-TB and it should run with the 133-FSB and I should can change the multi. Please help.

try using a different multiplier, such as 8.5 or 9 at133 FSB and see if that works. Also, what kind of cooling do you have?

iīm using the silent version of the alpha 6035 (y.s tech fan). according to this i have arctic silver II. Could it be, that the VCoreīs too low?? whatīs the default setting? a friend of mine told me that I should change it to 1,85V.

Consider yourself lucky. I have a K7T Turbo and for some reason I don't even have any options to change the multiplier. I go to CPU Ratio, and all it has is Default. Nothing else. It's making me mad.

And MSI's Live BIOS isn't working for me either. I'm going insane!!!

Keldogg is up and running with a bios update . On your problem, if the L1 is not unlocked and you set the multiplier, the system will lock out. At this point you need to reset/clear the CMOS . Please note that the manual is backward(save/erase). This will default you back to the mfr settings. Setting the multiplier without unlocking will cause the black screen. You should also set the 100/133 FSB back to 133 if you TB is a 266 or else you will get the lower clk speed. A 1 GHz TB 133FSB set to FSB of 100 get you 750 because the multiplier is defaulted to 7.5 on the chip.

OK, I found a solution. The problem was a too low VCore voltage. When I set it from 1,82 to 1,85 it works. Now my CPU runs at 1133MHz (133x8.5). Very stable! By the way, thank you for your replies! Another question: My CPU temp now is 47° and after two hours of SoF 53°. I think this is too hot, isnīt it?

That temp area falls into the "someday, you should work to get it better" category. Certainly not "turn it off quick!" or even "you really should have a look at that". It's summer. Ambient temps are up. So are CPU. I, personally don't like my CPU temps above 45C, but that's just me.
