Hi, right now I'm at 1.33ghz, 133x10 (the chip had L1 bridges already done)

If I go any higher, while loading windows 2000, it will just lock up. Sometimes after playing with different multiplier settings and FSB, it loads into win2k, but after 30mintues or so(just using IE), it will just hang or get BSOD.

I am currently at 1.85V(BIOS sets1.825V) Vcore and 3.7I/O(set at 3.6 in BIOS), my temperatures runs 35C(idle) to 51C(load).

Below is my system config:

320watt Power supply
256MB PC133 generic RAM
a BIG Generic Heatsink
Abit KT7A
30GB Quantum HD
16x CDROM
PCI Lansys 10/100 NIC
PCI SB Creative Ensoniqe
PCI Voodoo 3 2000 143@166mhz

Can anyone suggest what's going wrong? There are so many configs in this ABIT board, I've flashed to the latest bios. I've only switched to AMD a few days ago from my p3-700@980mhz. Any hints would be appreciated.

Here is a link w/ a patch for Win2K and Via chips.

Thanx, I've just upgraded the drivers, but doesn't seem to make much difference.

Is 3.7V too high of an I/O voltage? I can still up it to 3.9V if better?

My hard drive basically stops when trying to load windows at 1400...
I'm now at 1350mhz same voltages. 10x135.

vipez888, here is a FAQ on your MOBO, it has some info under the stability section;

This is the bible for Abit KT7 owners. LOL

Why on earth do you have the Vi/o set so high? With my FSB at 150 Mhz, 3.5 does fine. Try backing down some on that Vi/o. Also consider backing down the Vcore. A 1.2 should be able to do 10x133 at 1.75Vcore / 3.4Vi/o on a KT7A.
There are some sub-standard KT7As out there. I know because I bought one. It would only run the FSB at 133 Mhz, no more. I returned it and the second one ran 150 Mhz right out of the box with the same components as the first one.

What is your chips code. I have an AVHA chip that performs about as you describe 1350-1380 with good air cooling. AXIA basically gained 100MHZ over that version.

Its a AXIA, 200fsb version of 1.2ghz.

I've tried lowering the I/O voltage, no can do, it just locks up...same thing with lowering Vcore to 1.75V, 1.8V it needs at least 1.85V for 1350mhz.

I guess I got a bad chip. Still 150mhz extra isn't too shabby. I barely get it to even post now at 1400. At least this rig is faster than my old p3-700@980mhz.
