New member....some questions!

First off i'd like to say that these forums along with the site has helped me alot in my overclocking ventures...Thanks to all who contribute!

Now...i've gotten my Athlon XP 2100+ TB Core up to 2.1 with stock cooling and a few additional case fans...1.60v core...no problem....stable. But my MEM frequency went to hell.
Before OCing it was running @ 133Mhz (266DDR) but when i got up to 2.1GHZ the frequency went down to 124....any solutions?

Thanks :D

Specs:
ASUS A7N8X DLX
AMD Athlon 2100+ TB Core currently running @ 2.1Ghz
512 PC2100 DDR from Crucial
GeForce4 Ti 4400 @ 300/600

WELCOME TO THE FOURMS, at least posting in the fourms. :D

wait, they just randomly went down? or did you set them to a lower mhz? look in the bios and see what is going on... if your memory is 124mhz, then your multiplier must be at 17. that does not sound reasonable at all.
How are you finding out that your memory is at 124mhz? we need a little more info.

Well the MEM frequency just went down on its own. ...i didn't toggle anything just the multi and FSB for the CPU. Also when i boot up the POST screen shows what freq. the memory is running at.

I'm running at 155*13.5
With a MEM freq. at 124

....doesn't sound right...my mem freq. in the bios is set at auto but can be increased by 25-50-75-100%...ect increments

sorry, but I dont know much about memory frequency. I thought you might have gotten words mixed up and ment megahertz. could you maybe enlighten me as to what memory frequency is or does?

It locks the memory bus when it's on Auto. That way I can run 208 FSB on my system when my Memory Frequency is on Auto. It should be set to 100%.

That way, the absolute max is 152 FSB for PC2100 RAM.

Only PC2700 and up RAM can do 166 FSB and higher.

LatinAssassin81:
1. Look at my sig.
2. Forget about FSB higher than that, unless you own a one in a million mislabeled PC2100.
3. Watch your temps. T-Bred heatsinks are not meant for OCing.

Look for a Thermalright heatsink to take your system, maybe a little higher than where mine is now.

SK6+ used to be $10
SK-7 (recommended) used to be $15.99

I think what might be happening is since you have it set to auto, it it trying to get as close to 133Mhz no matter what you set your fsb to. When you set your fsb to 155 it automatically sets the memory to 80% of that which is the 124 your seeing. If you want to raise it, change the auto setting to somthing a bit higher than 80% and see what happens.

NICE! Thanks for the replies. I actually just ordered a ALPHA PAL8045T (heatsink only) from newegg along with Vantec's 80mm Tornado fan...noisy..yea i know, but that's not my concern. :D As far as setting the freq. to 100% or higher....let me give that a shot. Thanks again.....

Slowly raise the FSB from 133 and not higher than 150ish.

Then up the multiplier.

Rezin is right about FSB percentage switches.
My 8rda+ has a frequency % range from 50 to 200% of FSB, which, if your FSB is at 133, 80% of that is 124. try to see if you can get it to 83%, which is ideal, because 83% of 166 is 133.
BTW, Welcome to the Forums!
You will most likely bump into people who know almost anything to do with anything in here........good luck, and happy OCing!
