View Full Version : Does newegg.com sell AXIA's ???
Seems like newegg has reasonable prices on most things I want and fair shipping too.
Anyone bought a 1Ghz Tbird from them recently? I'm particularly interested in buying a 200 Mhz version so I can run it at 10x133=1330 without the hassle of unlocking the CPU. Did you get an AXIA?

Newegg has them both, but why settle for a 200fsb chip when the 266fsb comes unlocked. Therefore no hassle. They seem to have AXIA's as well.

I have not ordered a processor from Newegg.com, but I can tell you from field observation that every 1Ghz T-bird that I have seen is factory locked. That includes the 'C' birds..the '266Mhz' models. I'm not saying that every single one is factory locked, just the hundreds that I've seen.
Good luck,

I got me a 1gig TBird C from newegg.com and it is an AXIA. Also 2 of the L1 bridges were severed so no, they don't come unlocked.
Hmmm. I wonder if I'm risking not getting an AXIA if I order a 200 Mhz 1 Ghz Tbird. I would think that by now almost all 1 Ghz Tbirds should be AXIA or better but I really don't know what's out there in the distribution channel.
Your reasoning is fine, however all you would save is the unlock procedure, which really is not that difficult, and ultimately allows for better overall system performance.
Yo
P.s.: safest way to get a 200MHz AXIA is to go to a show or a shop. If you can find a 1GHz/200 in a store it may be almost as cheap as ordering from newegg + shipping ($10), but it is a safe bet.
So what is the favorite unlocking technique these days? I understand pencil wears off. I hear a lot about auto defroster repair liquid and conductive pen.
I got an AXIA 1.33 that was factory unlocked from New Egg about 1 1/2 months ago.
I just ordered the 1ghz/266 tbird from them so I'll let everyone know what I got. I've only got a kt7-raid motherboard so I think the limiting factor in overclocking will be the motherboard in this case since I can't get over 5 or 6 on my fsb without tanking.
I bought a 1.33 AXIA T-bird about a month ago from them. They've got some of the best reselleratings.com ratings.
